Alhamdolillah...

Bought the Mazda 929...

1977 model in true orignal condition.

Except the engine...that is 1c Diesel.

I liked the engine though...it's in superb condition:

The interior is in a little bad condition but each n every thing is orignal that came stock in this car...dashboard, meters, buttons, steering wheel, seats, door panels, carpet, door sils etc.

In fact the most genuine car I could find in the tireless efforts of an year and a half.

Thanks to one of my close buddies...Afnan who helped me with the hunt & Mohsin for the all time efforts of accompanying & helping with his experience.

I'll start posting the pictures soon & share all the updates with the Mazda 929 Aggression!!!

Lucky you finding the vehicle in good shape. Do keep posting updates. Though the 1C handles very well but if you wish for the change then opt for the Mazda FE series engines rather than Toyota.

Yes that's true. Finding a genuine Mazda 929 is really difficult these days as its already a very rare item.

Most of the Mazda's are spoiled with alteration & stuff.

This was basically an army officers car who took great care of the car & simply parked it for long long time so it basically escaped the atrocities of some people who don't have the knowledge of the worth of these beauties & spoil them with cheap after market modifications.

And I feel lucky enough to have my hands on something that's worthy to be known as orignal!

Yes the 1c handles the car so well that I could not imagine how amazing the drive of the diesel Mazda could be on motorway.

Truly loved the drive.

A hell of a luxurious drive with so much comfort, space & features. To my amazement I could not stop thinking how in this world this car could have such luxury & drive back in 1976s.
And the people who drive it at that time...they would have been the luckiest!!!

Beautiful car. I love the design of cars from the 70s. I had an elderly relative who's official car in the early 1980s was a dark brown 929. This car refreshed my memory. I hope you can restore it to its original condition. Good luck!

Yes, finding a decent Mazda is near to impossible, Lahore has quite a few left now, Islamabad region mostly has 808s powered by 1Cs due to their practicability going hills with loads. Karachi has plenty of these old mazda cars but barely in good conditions.
Many of these vehicles are found to be altered by local mechanics, the worst ones are with Toyota and Suzuki lights which is a total disgrace to Mazda.
Must appreciate that your car has survived over these eras and remained in safe hands.

Surely, I'll check & give it a thought with FE series Mazda engine.

But currently I'm not going for the engine as the diesel drives beyond imaginations.

Will be considering all the suggestions for future upgrades.

You are right, the design of the 70's rock man!!!

Seems like the car designers did work on the cars back then. As for nowadays changes in light/grille/bumpers is considered a model change.

It was a very famous car in the 80s. My father also owned one in sky blue color with Bunnu number. Don't the reason behind Bunnu number yet but yes it was one solid thing. Although I don't have the drive memory of the car as I was just born in the 80s

Thanks. I definitely have plans to make one Mazda with no alterations but a beautiful stock vehicle that would surely enable the new generation to witness the cars we have seen in action on the roads. The shapes & designs of the 70s!!!

True that, diesel is simply mazaydaaaar man!!!

I'm a huge fan of the cd20 model of Nissan sunny so now having a 1c is making sense of something similar.
And believe me, the fuel consumption is unimaginable. I got the tank full from pso h12 Islamabad & it got here in Lahore in less than half a tank.

Yes, the only thing needed for the diesel is timely oil change & air filter cleaning every now & then. This keeps diesel going for ages

I have been finding it for long long time...n it's too too too too too tough to find...especially 929s as I haven't seen any on the roads now...also pakwheels & Olx sees only one or two in every six months to a year...and trust me those are ultimate spoiled ones...some having Indus Toyota lights & bumpers...some having spoiled body...some totally scrappy interior.

So in fact, the kind of excitement makes me on the cloud number 9...

@skysedan I haven't seen a few of them which could be spotted in Lahore previously on the roads from quite a while now. I know two in red color, one of which used to be parked in FC college Lahore...other in canal view h/s Lahore with a Lahore number "150"

Islamabad has a lot of 808s. I saw them running on the roads. Also Mazda 1300 can be seen.

Don't know the situation in Karachi as I saw a lot of Datsun, old charade & old starlet but could not spot any 929 there aswell.

I think if they are running in Karachi then it would be easy to get the parts from there. Whatsay @skysedan?

But regarding the condition, you are right, most of the cars are being dragged around in pretty bad shapes as taxis or as off-roaders in villages.

Most of the parts are either forcefully fitted of newer model cars.

@saboor73 even the back seat is orignal...n by orignal I mean the black leather seats with the mesh type leather used in the Center of the seat

we had this in very early age of our childhood. I don't remember the car in our personal use except for the several pictures of childhood. And yes I do remember my chacha going shikars (hunting) on the same Mazda when we bought a sunny 1988 model, the square straight shape one, another legendary car & let go the Mazda 929 in the hands of my uncle.

Yes, I do have immense love for the 1988 straight shape sunny. And I do have plans to get my hands on a genuine 1988 1000cc Nissan sunny with all orignal interior & the rims with those black small wheel caps

Diesel has its own taste no wonder the economy a diesel engine gives cant be compared to the petrol engine of the same power. Diesel is way better and economical for long journeys.
Toyota Diesels last long if taken care. Even the weaker ones keep going on and bearly give startup troubles.

I have experienced a life time of these days. My father had this similar Mazda 929 in white when i was born, after facing an accident we replaced it with a 1981 mazda 626. And since my collage days I have owned a 1979 mazda 323.
I know all the troubles you face when owning a mazda
Parts is an issue.. rather a big issues. Since Lahore does not have a single shop left whose dealing straight in parts for these cars. Shops like Khalid Autos on montgomery road have few leftovers. In Bilal ganj theres an old fellow who still keeps dealing in old mazda parts.
The only sources of parts are shops in Karachi. Unity Autos still deals in mazda parts. So normally we request them for courier of parts.
So keeping these cars alive is challanging thats why many people who owned these could not coupe with the troubles of finding spares and obviously expensives. So eventually they have been replaced.
