Losing coolant in reservoir

This summer I noticed that ee-90 coolant reservoir is getting empty every now & then, need top up approx 100ml every 2 days. There are no boil signs on the reservoir or to the overflow tap.

By adding little of RED water color to coolant, Have precisely checked for possible leakage by removing the bonet and inspection under high intensity lamp while engine was running with aircon on, couldn't find any possible puncture or leak in the hose pipes - the radiator cap is 100% functional, radiator is good, both the fans are auto & T/S is in place. dash temp gauge never climb above 8o'clock max 9'o clock position while outside heat 40 c + (in may & june)

Left a white sheet for few nights under the engine bay after shutting down and no drops below either.

- any ideas please ... ! ...

check the waterpump weep hole and the back of pulley also, If the heater is connected, check the inside of the car too. The best check is with a testing radiator cap with air fitting, on a cold engine, fit and apply 16 psi pressure, the leak will show itself.

btw your case sounds like a weeping water pump.

water cannot vapourise inside the cooling system (its sealed) - it can however slighly vapourise in the expansion tank. But the usual cause is cavitation and foaming which then rises to the top part (cap) and ejects. REMEDY - use proper concentration of coolant.

The op himself is quiet a technical guy and Xulfiqar already replied.

i faced similar problem once.changing the radiator solved the problem. the problem was such that the water leakage was to less and from a hot area.it was evaporating without droplets falling down

coolant always leaves residue marks from the point it evaporates.

I was having same issue in my ee90 and there were no drops no nothing. It was water pump leaking little water when under pressure i guess. Water pump was replaced and its been 2 or 3 months water level is at the same level. BTW i added caltex coolant in the car.

coolant flow across the interior radiator coil when you select WARM / HEAT in the cabin of your car in winters, - for extra warm interior in severe weather there is a spiral electrical heater coil which operates as well to maintain temp when HOT is selected.

It was due to a tiny fracture like a cycle puncture in the lower hose pipe was visible only from underneath and was trickling drops on the shield thats why not visible on white sheet. - Hose pipe & clips replaced [/I]
