I found it better then City,Corolla of the same era and par with Civic

I have used honda for years....city n civic both.
But few days ago i get a chance to drive my uncles lancer 2007 , 135 on ODO meter.
I was shocked to feel the comfort n built quality of this car.

I believe just like we stereotype people ,lancer has been stereotyped as luxury car with most expensive parts and poor resale.
So we compromise on quality and not on resale.

So we can say due to expensive parts it is not considered at good car?

awesome car but parts are very very expensive

Bro maybe u are comparing apples with oranges. I bought a new civic and Lancer in 2005 and all I found that Lancer only has soft suspensions and artificial wood and leather interior. All else was better in civic including drivetrain and powertrain.

May be. But all these are sedan, locally manufactured, 1.3/1.6 [not talking about reborn] so all are apples i guess :grinning:. Design interior n exterior of honda is way better no doubt but road clearance, durability and drive of lancer is atleast better than city.

If you compare Lancer with City or any other 1.3L cars in PK. its a simply rules out, its far much better in comfort and shape wise. Parts are bit expensive due to monopoly of re sellers but easily available in main cities. Fuel consumption is another factor. Lancers are heavy on fuel mine do 11km/L in city and 130km on CNG. On motorway it gives better average than cultus.
Build quality is 1000 times better than PKDMs.
If you want to keep the car for 3-4 years than go for it.

Hmmm fuel may be. But i have heard lancer is not good on CNG, it firebacks like baleno. On petrol its all good.

Well, we bought a Lancer 1.3 GLX M/T back in September 2006 and it's still with us and Alhamdulillah served us very loyally so far.
Many times when I am standing with my car either waiting in markets or at petrol stations for oil change, someone does approach and asks whether I want to sell the car, I reject with a very polite reply. They commend the way I have kept this car and say that generally Lancers have been abused by the people but yours is way better than them. Such people know what gem of a car this is.
It is the resale mentality of our people which have driven beautiful and practical cars like Mitsubishi Lancer and Nissan Sunny out of competition, combined with the monopolistic behavior of the Big 3, namely Toyota, Honda and Suzuki.
The parts are a bit expensive, but who crashes his car every other day? Some days ago an idiot biker coming from wrong way swerved to avoid crashing with another car and while "drifting" banged into my parked car, yes my car was in parking and then what would have happened by the stupid people who blindly favor these "aankhon walay andhay" on the roads, everyone knows.
So as a result of his stupidity my car's tail light has cracked, and a genuine one is for Rs. 13,000, and I would have to pay its cost as that idiot who caused me this loss is nowhere to be found now, as usual.
Our Lancer has almost clocked 79,000 km purely on petrol and Alhamdulillah is still fresh like it was on Day 1.
As for the fuel average, who says it is heavy on fuel? Yes it is heavier than City of the same model but that is a plus point for the car in terms of handling, road grip and comfort.
Lancer has its own charm even if I compare to the other two cars we have, namely 3rd Gen Prius and 11th Gen Corolla, even though it isn't as technologically advanced as the Prius or as hyped as the Corolla.

Great story ali usman. If u are really good car care taker than u deserve that every second day someone ask you if u r selling.

Big three is serious issue, genuine parts are always expensive, liana or city, corolla or civic all cars genuine parts are expensive. I think cost is not a big issue, availability of parts is...

Yes we have taken very good care of it, just like a family member
For those who say parts are not available, let me tell you that both Kabuli (parts taken off from actual cars) and Taiwanese (brand new) parts are available at Chah Sultan and other spare part markets, even at reputed workshops. Taiwanese are cheaper than the Kabuli ones but quality is not up to the mark.

not just kabli, thai,Chinese parts are also available in market I have seen dealers restore abused lancers with Chinese parts and sell than on profit

I've owned Lancer since 2006 and have had a great experience. The biggest difference as compared to local cars is obviously the build quality, but its also got excellent comfort and grip. I've never really had a serious problem in finding parts here in Karachi, but of course they are not as common as those for Toyota, Honda and Suzuki.

Regarding built quality, our 8 years old Lancer has far better paint finish on door handles specially when compared to our 11th Gen Corolla, and interior plastic is superior in quality as well
Last but not the least, the key of Lancer still shines better than that of our new Corolla

Better than City because City is lower price car of 3rd world countries. Lancer competes with Civic. It is just offered with smaller 1.3L engine in Thailand but does not mean it will compare to city.

The only reason was as you said just its non-honda-toyota-suzuki [ outside love triangle ]. The built quality of this car is not at all comparable to the trash cans assembled here, but in a way its a good situation for those who realize its value as they get it for less

How come the vibrant beige and in most models wood interior trims of the lancer come remotely close to the lotay wala kala plastic interior of a locally assembled civic ?

Lancer (upto and including the model that has been sold by deewan motors) is a cheap (read non-luxury) product made by Mitsubishi.

-has a cramped interior with a bump on the floor between the rear seats
-cheap design and cheap parts (for instance the beige plastic that turns pale)
-simple and not so attractive exterior
-simple efi engine

in short totally lacks class. but

-has an extraordinarily good suspension
-smooth transmission and FEEL of engine (since no fuel saving technologies)
-better manufacturing quality

the car offers average RELIABILITY and DURABILITY

One enjoys the drive of the car. But considering designing and class where Toyota and Honda beats it buying it is like buying something cheap and simple.

end of my two cents.
