Khi-lhr-khi Karachi Lahore round trip with family

AoA All,

Am planing a trip with my family including kids KHI-LHR-KHI.
This will be my first trip, am totally unaware of routes and I will be only driver
I need your help here.

I need to know best possible route which is safe, no trafic jams and best to drive.

I just purchased WagonR few days back and will be traveling on same.
Can I set my complete route on Gmap? Should I stay in any hotel? Are hotels safe for family? Where should I stay and when for food/Namaz etc?

Can I avail my free service from Suzuki while traveling? When should I change oil etc ?

What papers or accessories should I keep with me ?

Also guide me back from LHR to Kar

I read existing KAR-LHR routes but as I said am unaware of roads and routes I cant understand at all

You mean to say Khi-Lhr? Right?

There is only one route between Karachi to Lahore and that's N5 and you need to follow this route.

This is one way road. You may face some trouble on Sind territory as N5 is not in a good position. However, once you entre the Punjab, road is very well maintained.

Yes, you can set your complete route on Gmap. And you can avail free service from any Suzuki dealership if free service is due.

Google Map Help you better if any barrier at road you can change your route alternatively and make your journey smooth. For Staying near Bahwalpur Pearl Resort has good credibility and they will provide you room at reasonable price

i traveled KHi-Pesh 2 days back.

1. U can very easily set the google maps from / for ur locations. They r more than accurate for normal users

2. u can stay at sukkur, sadiqabad, or rahimyar khan, choice is totally yours. Whenever u feel like u r getting tired, better stop the car at a decent place and have a night stay. Hotels r pretty safe for families no issues.

3. for food / namaz u can use fuel stations or other road side mosques / shops as and when appropriate. again ur choice

4. i would say if you r due for an oil change, get it done before leaving. If not, get it done when u r due. Better if u change ur oil 500km earlier than ur due mileage

5. Normal usual docs. car registration, ur personal ID's etc. nothing fancy like ACLC NOC, insurance bla bla. If the car is in ur name, u r good to go. Police wala dont usually stop people with families.

6. ur car kit must contain emergency items like tool kit, first aid kit, and some medicines for headache, nausea and stomach disorder.

7. U need to follow N5 from hyderabad all the way upto gojra and then u can take motorway to lahore, or u can take N5 from Hyderabad all the way to lahore. ur choice. roads r pretty nice. N5 is equally good in sindh and punjab. 4 lanes road separated by a divider. If u feel comfortable driving at night, do it. otherwise i strongly suggest u avoid driving at night and stay where appropriate before night falls.

Rest, take 5 min breaks after every 100km or 150km whatever suits u just to get some fresh air and flex ur muscles. This will keep u relaxed and awake. Leave around 6am in the morning n u will b near rahimyar khan by 6pm. this way u will be able to utilize the daylight at max. Keep enjoying the drive and the trip otherwise it will get on ur nerves pretty soon. If u have any other problem u can contact me at 03205499528. leave an sms if u have to

I traveled from LHE to KHI and then back KHI to LHE around a year ago. The route I followed was pretty much the same as this one till bahawalpur. I didn't do any homework and just left on my Alto with family. There wasn't any problem i faced during journey. However, there was one thing I learnt. While travelling from LHE to KHI, I stayed in a hotel in RYK. That was a mistake. During my journey from KHI to LHE, I stayed in a hotel in Sadiqabad. That was a pretty good idea. Reason behind this is that in RYK, you have to travel around 15-20km from N5 into the city and only then you may be able to find some hotel. In Sadiqabad, you may find decent hotels only 2-3 km away from highway. Moreover, there were two roads leading to the city (RYK). The one I took was under construction and that became pain in the a**.

Whenever I had to find a hotel, I would have stopped by a couple of medical/general stores randomly, asked them what a good hotel in reasonable price would be for family and followed their suggestions. I wasn't disappointed at all.

Motorway route is not feasible for KHI-Lhr route.

I left KHI at around 0800 and reached HYD at around 1230 as construction work on highway was started recently. I don't know current condition. I reached Sadiqabad at 1000. Travelling time depends upon your driving style I guess. There are people I have heard claiming that they reached KHI to LHE in that time (14 hours). I am sorry that I don't remember the hotel name where I stayed. I only remember that I spent 2.5k for a night stay in AC room that was quite O.K for that price.

If you intend on staying in Sadiqabad which I did, try out Midway hotel, it's near the main highway or if I'm not wrong, just off the highway, walled hotel, I was alone traveling from Khi to isloo and I stayed there and my sleep was perfect.

A few pointers for your way

1. Keep a copy of the Highway Code book as these dumb idiots of the highway ask for that book and if you don't have it, well they ask for a little money and if you don't mind that it's all good. Nothing serious here.

2. If you're the only driver then don't risk it, take as many breaks as you can. Better late than never.

3. Please honk and flash trucks when overtaking these idiotic truck drivers during the day as they tend to come into the right lane pretty randomly at times if they think you're too far as they can't judge speed of the vehicle behind from the mirrors I guess.

4. Cross Sindh during daylight.

5. Make short fuel station pitstops in Sindh, and also choose wisely since you're with family so find a good spot to park your car and stretch a little.

6. Stay hydrated at all times with water, your
   best friend

7. Change oil before heading for the journey, better to have the engine in its optimum condition unless you JUST changed it maybe a month or two ago.

8. Roads in Sindh post Khi - Hyderabad highway are just fine and currently due to the newer status of the Sindh roads, they're better than the ones in Punjab for the time being.

9. Make sure you have good tires and check their pressure before heading. Remember, once the tyres heat up, the tyre pressure will increase itself so make sure the tyres aren't that filled up in the first place.

10. When you cross Multan and Khanewal via motorway, just continue straight down to lahore as the route from chichawatni and gojra is for the isloo route. Maintain N5 highway all the way to Lahore.

11. Keep your fuel topped up regularly, set a mark for e.g I filled my tank full when it went down by more than 1/4th.

Traffic jams are inevitable, at times you'll never find one and at times you may find some which can usually last from a few small blocades to a few hours waiting. But since the overall traffic has increase due to the rise in propel traveling and trade on the highway, you will face delays mostly when you're waiting behind two trucks, who will overtake first, left one or right one. So yeah constantly happening and at times annoying.

Don't think about Duniyapur route. Take Multan route
