K Swap on City 2000 SX-8

Aoa Pakwheelers, hope you are fine, i have a city 2000 SX-8 swapped with a D17 with common mods I/H and manual ECU. I am planning to swap a bigger engine into it which i guess has never been done in this model/chassis. I know a few people have swapped an H22. but this engine is more powerful than H22 as after the swap i am planning to get it tuned and do other mods.

I need guidance on strengthening the Chassis of this car as i know this would be an overkill. But on the other hand the Power to weight would be very good. Requesting your help/guidance/suggestions for this swap.

i do have the budget, but i am more concerned about the reliability of swap and its problems and i dont have the engine yet but i can source one easily.

Get it done from an experienced guy and k is much better than h22 except for the old school vtec having better kick.

Reliability depends upon tune.
No clean k24a is available in lahore and pindi market. Don't fall for clean tappet cover. 90% engines are flooded.
Going for 6 speed or 5?
City and civic share similar chassis. You can buy ek civic mounts with brackets and modify according to your city. You can also use civic axles.

yes i understand i have a reliable guy who deals in engine ill look into it. the guy told me that 6 speed transmission would not fit in this car the only way is to use 5 speed transmission. However can you please let me know what would be the cost of mounts. i know hasport are the one to chose but they are really costly.

6 sped transmission will fit. I don't know why people think it wouldn't. The length of 6 and 5 speed are almost same.
You can use h series or any other mounts and make custom brackets to accommodate them. Will be reasonable as well.
Which standalone you are going for?

6 speed trans is a bit longer due to which the chassis has to be cut, compromising the rigidity. on the other hand this Sx-8 has a smaller hood space than EK. Although it is market as EK-7 but the dimensions are different than EK-9.
Thank you for the suggestions for mounts. I am in discussion with a fabricator he'll sort this out. Initially i would be using a stock ecu. and would be using a stand alone after k20 head

Believe me you will not face any problem fitting 6 speed without cutting. Just bring the timing chain side of engine closer to strut tower. Rest it's upto you. Although 6 speed is pretty expensive and rare then 5 speed.

Without hasport it would be abit difficult... We recently swapped a k24 type s in a ek with hasport mounts..
However I've a large chain of engine providers here in Islamabad with clean 200psi compression or greater type engines.. Five speed would be easy dig for a swap.
You can use its own back mount of five spd gear and timing mount would also be used custom. So making custom would be abit hard and mostly you don't get that skilled mechanics or fabricators.

However in that case hasport mounts would be better for you but get it professionally checked by someone who's done such swaps... Like if you come to me I'll make complete feasibility of fittings and the whole plan or home work would be done.. If you just attempt it with low. Budget and then things get tough so it would be hard to keep up with the project.
