Islamabad Murree Highway

Does anybody has the pics of newly opened Islamabad-Murree Highway??

@Alvin, there were some old pics posted by @abidsiddique, but I guess I saw them on some other forum urban.....com don't remember in full. However, I am not sure if its open all the way to murree or not, I tried searching 2 weeks back and did not get any info. But if you find out please let us know here. Thanks.

The new islamabad Muree Highway is now open and you can reach Jheeka gali easliy while driving on it. Most of the road is now dual carriageway and easy to drive but right at the end there is a sudden sharp 4 km hike you have to do on a single carraigeway road to reach jheeka gali which is not ideal. Went to muree via this road a couple of weeks ago when i was there thats y i know.

Where exactly is Jheeka Gali? How far is it from Murree?

its open. My parents went to murree using that route. From 17mile toll plaza to jheeka gali, it takes only 30 odd minutes. Jheeka gali to murree mai further take 15-20 mins. As per the statements of my cousin and my parents, its too good and perfect for tourists going to murree or further ahead.

it is open and you reach Lawrence college road...the uphill ofrom motorway to lawrence college is just like persuahawa...quite steep...5 ppl in mehran..dont atempt..or 4 of u will have to hike up on foot..

yar plz upload the pic of that steep so one could have the idea.I have coure i wana go by this route with 5 person in total,I have gone through peershuwa many times.One more thing i wana know, is cng available from murree uptill nathiagali.

Instead of opening a new topic I searched this section and found this thread which was so far lacking pix. Today I went with my family for shopping and after scanning Blue Area, Jinnah, Super and Melody Markets, I suddenly decided to drive to Murree to spend a few hours.

Since getting my car converted to CNG, I had checked it on Pir Shoawa track, but not Murree. Though the last gas I filled from F-6 PSO, gave jerks and killed the engine whenever it ran low or during idling and turning. It never happened before, still the car (xli 2005, 32Kms driven) went very well on CNG and did the round trip to Murree. The AC was als on till Taret. With all the climb and four people in the car, it still gave me 173kms, I had run just 66 kms in Islamabad with the last fill.

On way back, I unknowingly hit the new Islamabad-Murree dual carriage way and wow, it is an amazing track, wide and beautiful all the way to Bharah Kahu toll plaza.

So here are few pix. I had set the resolution to 860x480 and forget to increase it, so the quality would not be as good as my cam usually gives.

i just came back from murree today and used the highway only for comming down...... although the Highway is awesome and the view is stunning.... but there are too many sharp and dipping turns.... like i go to murree every week and i was finding it hard to control the speed with gear and brakes together :-s maybe i forgot how to drive...... but anyways apart from sharp turns downhill its perfect..... and open

Please be advised if you are going to MURREE and using the highway make sure your car is in tip top condition... a relative old engine and its bound to get overheat..... i saw dozens of cars standing by the road side and cooling their engines off.... and since its very steep once you stop its a bit hard to climb up again......

the dipping and rising road is like a patch of only 10-12kms either way from or to Kashmir point... thts where the Highway leads to.

@jiggerzzz, which car do you have buddy, my car performed very well on curves and I saw better cars than mine struggling at bends and zig zag curves. Was myself surprised with the handling of my car about which generally people here at Pakwheels have negative opinions.
