Is the Radiator Blocked.?

hey i am faccing a lil bit trouble wid my Dads Baleno. wanted to share nd increase my knowledge as well

Symptoms i faced

1, about a month ago. the car went for tappet adjusment, fortunatly we opened the Radiator cap. nd was empty. we filled it up. then it was fine until.

1. then Yesterday, i wnt to get some medicines from the shop, left the car start, came back nd felt A/c wasnt working, so it clicked my mind, ( wen ever the car gets hot the A.c get off) my eyes striked the needle nd was gooing towards hot. i parked the car for 15mins, then started it nd went home, as my home lane came closer the needle was racing me to the H sign, i thot gari ghar to pohchao then ill stop it. as i entred my home lane, the needle droped Half way down ( as if normal ) came home the radiator needed sum water ( 1 Liter i guess )

now its also fine, so could it be that the Radiator was choked, nd as the car got extremly hot then water started going in the engine nd cooled it.

I am certain that the needle wasnt misbehaving as the A/c has triped, nd wen i got home i had to add some 1 liter of water in it.

so wat could be the issues nd some wat solution.

PS: My bad, i was using water in it instead of Coolant.

but couldnt find any thing highly visible. but the question that arose in my mind was that how did the car cool down after being so hot. nd that also in driving.

check the radiator fan may it is not working may be it has lose connection flush ur radiator twice or thrice and add some coolant in it

^Asad thanks for ur reply il try this as well. but if the Fan went misbehaving shouldnt the check Engine light blink ??

Possible causes:
leakage in the cooling system
loose radiator/water cap
improper ratio of coolant to water (if any)
malfunctioning thermostat valve
failing/failed head gasket
faulty signal going to fans (if electric), or faulty fan clutch (if hydraulic)

there are other possible ones but i'm too tired to think of them.

umm well wen i filled the radiator, the car was started, so i made sure there were no bubbles, so i guess the Gasket is fine. altho on acceleration the water went down but refilled in about 15 seconds.

Btw Radiator nd the Engine are conected by 2 pipes only na? one for engine in let nd other for the engines out flow?? so i guess im sure there werent any leakes as well :s

goto some radiatr ustad. . .he will chrge u arnd 500. .. .

mostly at botm side of radiatr .. . . . its leak .. .. . .u cant c any visble leakge. . . . . as it evprte . .. . . whn car is hot. . . . ...

Faulty thermostat or fan

Here is a list of things to do:

1- Check radiator fan.
2- Change the radiator cap.
3- Check the whole system for pin hole leakages.
4- Flush te radiator with fresh water.

If it does not get fixed then check the thermostat. This should resolve the problem. When all is done, refill with a good coolant like Pyrex which is suggested by PakSuzuki and plz... do not take the thermostat out no matter what ur mechanic says.

Hmmmm. easily available in the market. The price is about Rs 90/Ltr. White bottle.

open your radistor cap. fill it to the brim with water. then start the engine keeping in mind the raidatorcap remains open. now rev the engine by pulling the accelrator wire next to the carb. notice if any bubbles appear in ur radiator or water jumps out of the radiator. if so then its definetely HEAD GASKET problem.

is ur radiator water rusty??? i.e evident orange?? get ur radiator serviced at first place then ,,, moreover if u have time switch on the engine with filled radiator and ac switched on to... let the car remain idle for 15 mins then check the temprature if ur car gets hot without any signs of leakage then there would be simply these problems

radiator clogged
maybe ur temparature gauge not working properly
thermostate malfunctioning if u notice ur fan dint start during this check...

if fan is ok then after servicing radiator get that coolant inn as Proverbial Slang adviced u.. hope ur problem ll be solved
