you did not mention your budget.
auto is easier to drive, but consumes more fuel. If you are okay with lesser fuel average go for auto.
if you do consider fuel average important, then go for manual.
i would suggest don't go for a 2008 Japanese swift as i think it has some mechanical changes too so sourcing parts could be a hassle later on. Local swift has each and everything available in market.
the biggest mistake people do is that they buy this car considering its size (chhoti gari hai) , but what they don't realize is that it is a full 1300cc engine car (andar se bari gari hai) and hence they think it will give fuel average of a cultus or other hatchbacks, but the engine is bigger and performs way way better than small cars... so it gives fuel average of also like other 1300cc cars ...wohi 11-12 in city, and then people get disappointed "chhoti gari hai par petrol bohat khati hai" but they dont realize they are driving a 1328 cc car , not a whinny 1000cc engine!
