Local civic door glasses are sourced from AGI and also yaris , Corolla. But only door glasses. The front and rears till date are imported from principal (Honda global , Toyota , Suzuki etc) . The reason is that we don't qualify safety standards or quality control nor do we have any criteria for such. In a country where airbags are still luxury our mindset is pretty much evident.
Not to forget getting strip down variants and localization of 70% of parts which is also near impossible due to the same reason , failing as a nation to set rules and standards. Off we go comparing ourselves with established countries like china Thailand India Indonesia etc which have overtaken Japan in automotive industry .
It's a lengthy discussion , to put it simple our production will never be comparable to major parts supply sourced from Asia because we are manufacturing upon raw materials sourced from the same countries.
To compare a local windshield with established brands like Fuyao is preposterous ! Our total investment to date would be less than what established brands like Fuyao spends on R&D only with factories based in USA , Germany , Russia , China etc.
Again a lengthy discussion but to understand windscreens you need to understand the need of windscreens at the first place. It's the only defense you have while driving which protects you against incoming hazards , they just are not their to block wind but to provide you with safety to see clearly and protect you upon impact. The life's of 5 are within the decision making process of the quality of windscreen you chose. To claim being an OEM and only providing quarter glass for that oem doesn't justify installing windshield of the same manufacturer which is inviting disaster for reasons why even the OEM did not chose the make of the same for its own windshield and only door or quarters ? Why import fronts and rears and localize doors and quarters ?
Windshield is a major part , much important than the bumper you chose , the hood you install or the tyres you prefer. Survive a scratch on the driver vision area you cannot but anywhere on the body you may that's how important glass is. You simply cannot compare local underdevelop grassroot industry to a world leading manufacturer. If in Pakistan we have a better choice than Fuyao then choose that but dyor , claimants of grade A , India malaysia hong kong japan etc will never carry Original manufacturer logo. Rub the logos from inside and they will vanish 90% of the aftermarket windscreens in Punjab are a safety hazard and people have been conned. Rub the logo or you don't see the logo in 2 days after installation. Left right edges are blurred , night vision is poor and upon impact it's require little or no force to crack.
