IAC Valve Problem

Yesterday around 11:30 i came back home from a 40-50 km drive.I stopped the engine.After an hour or so i had some work so i got back in my car and started the engine.It started perfectly fine but engine's rpm had gone nuts.It was going on 3000 rpm then back to 1000 again and again.I restarted my car's engine almost 10 times.Called a friend and he told me IAC valve is stuck.He told me to get a carburetor cleaner.I rushed to the nearest retailer and bought one.Then he instructed me to open the hood,then the air cleaner box the when you see the throttle body you can also see the small hole in it's wall.He instructed me to rush the engine to it's limiter which is 7500 rpm or above and inject carburetor cleaner inside that hole with full pressure.I did this and still there was no difference.Can anyone solve this mystery for me.Car is a Civic 96 Exi.

Did you fully clean the throttle body? Is there still any noticeable dirt or grime in the throttle body? The butterfly can stick on opening if there's a lot in there.
And if the RPM was all the way up to 3000, it might not be JUST the IAC.

yea clean the throtle body along wth intake manfold.yet its better to remove ISCV and clean its us properly to get better output.As read in ur other thread ur also runnin cng so also check cng advancer n go for NGK new sparkplugs which are labbled as cng/lpg

That happens to appear a lot on the pre 2000 year Hondas. Happened on my D15 as well. Tried changing throttle body too but to no avail.

I'd recommend changing your PCV valve while you're at it.

Get your tps service and adjust it with L key.

1. It could be stuck IACV but first check for any vacuum leaks: you can test by completely blocking off the mouth of throttle body during idling. if engine still idling fine and running good then its obviously taking air from somewhere else....

2. never redline the engine upto its limit in idle, proper way to open up iacv without taking it off completely would be to spray carb cleaner into that small hole you identified in throttle body and slightly opening (10-20%) and closing throttle again and again so that ecu can cycle the iacv itself.

is the car on cng? or is this behaviour on petrol too?

Everything you just said tells your a real experienced guy!After opening and servicing the whole throttle body me and my friend discovered vacuum pipe was detached.
