Hyundai Grand Starex - Style or Comfort

I have just booked my Hyundai Grand Starex for use as family van. While there is no denying the fact that it is the most luxurious van around, I wanted to get opinions on how stylish it is and does it have a charisma of being an impressive and expensive car. Or does it only appear as a pretty looking commercial vehicle.

I know the booking is already done which was more of a family decision considering I have around 8 members in the family, I wanted to check if it ticks the other boxes as well.

Many congrats on your new family van.

You have booked a vehicle which should be judged on the basis of its utility, comfort, and reliability. Terms like 'stylish', 'charismatic' and 'impressive' are not usually applicable for commercial vans.

Since presently, very few of these Hyundai vans are around, so you shall be able to check relevant boxes once you get to own and drive it for some time.

Congratulations on booking the minivan. First time I've heard anyone buying this vehicle. In my opinion, it's mostly a utility vehicle land used to haul big families. If you want to impress people then maybe an Audi, BMW or Mercedes vehicle would be more appropriate.

It's a minivan which is family oriented. A Hiace is more of a commercial people carrier.

Just that you could have articulated it a bit better. As mentioned by others, it is being advertised as a luxury family van and in many countries such as Philippines it is way more expensive than it is in Pakistan. In Pakistan as well, it started off at PKR 4.5 M and currently the rate for basic version is PKR 5.1M. I know for a fact that multiple lots of this car have been sold in Pakistan but I agree that it is not as popular as Kia Grand Carnival which also started off at PKR 4.5 (now at 8.6 M). A few hundred vehicles sold don't really appear in public but are lost in the mist of other cars.

You i got you now.
My honest opinion is base model looks like a cargo van not ever anywhere near luxury black plastic all over the bumpers, halogen headlamps, no powered side mirrors let alone retractable or auto folding, all black interior with everything small bit hard plastic, very old style gauges in speedometer. All these things especially the hard plastic everywhere make it the opposite of luxury

As for the top model on road cost would be around 6.3 for filer and 6.5 for non filer. In 6.5 you can get a used 2018 Grand Carnival which i believe is better in everything especially the features which even i cant list all of the extras over Grand Starex.

Other countries do actually get luxury even in vans like Grand Starex unfortunately in Pakistan everything gets stripped out bas alllaaay rim and shark fun teena daal k advertise kia jata hai that our car is so luxurious that its even more luxurious than an S-Class

As for the purchase decision everyone has multiple factors to consider what suits an individual and limitations or preferences . Jo bhi khareedi hai its yours and enjoy it

Thanks Saad. I understand your points. Pakistani people have been frustrated by local car industry. In my budget range I only had two options (new). APV and Grande Starex. My pocket didn't allow me more choice and despite spending a sum of 5.3M (on road) for manual Starex I understand it is not luxury. However, I am happy that hyundai at least gave me an option and definitely way superior than APV which is improvised dabba.

Compared to APV yes it is a big upgrade, i know everyone has their own budget what they can get and their own preferences so enjoy whatever you can get, you worked hard for it.
