Hi there
i've recently moved to Oman and got my driving liscence (yahoo!!!), now considering buying a reasonably priced USED suv or cross over.
the cars that fall within my budget are as follows:::
1. Hummer H3 (2008)::: Rs. 1.13 million
2. Toyota Rav4 (2006)::: Rs. 850,000
3. Honda CRV (2006) :::Rs. 850,000
4. Dihatsu Terios (2009) ::: Rs. 900,000 (it's NOT Kid, it's 1.5 L, 7 seater All wheel drive)
5. Hyundai Tucson (2011)::::Rs. 1.6 Million (it's a beautiful car, Rav4 2013 fungineered is a copy of this!!!)

what options do u think is best among the top four, given their prices and model year

[i'll add a used cheap sedan as well, i'm considering a Proton Gen2 2009 for Rs. 275,000, is it good enough?]

any suggestions will be helpful...
thanks</SPAN>

If you can bear the running and maintenance costs of hummer than surely go for it. Apart from it take Rav4 in consideration though small than hyundia but it's durable and mush tougher than hyundia. Hyundia cars are better in looks only when it comes to driving experience, durability and maintenance that are not the rite choice and as a matter of fact you are buying a used vehicle so hyundia should be shortlisted

My few cents

yes they sure are low, no comparison:::thanks to 10% flat custom duty, rather than 300% or smthin

thanks for your thoughts,
- running cost is pretty low here, H3 will use 18 rial of petrol for a return journey b/w Muscat and Dubai (aprox 900km), Camry/ Accord would do same in 12 Rial...the difference (rs. 1500) is not tht much even for long distances. Maintenance might be xpensive...as hummer is discontinued now
-the above pictured hyundai has done only 16,000 km (that's very little over here...in 2 yrs cars can clock 150,000) and it's still covered by free service/maintenence for 2 more years...does that make difference in ur opinion?
regards

Hummer would be the best choice If u're a suv lover and if not hummer then surely go for Tucson.....all thoSe saying that tucson is not a relaible car r wrong.....Hyundai build quality have became Excellent in recent years and is equally good as so called toyota.........and if u are comparing 2006 rav-4 with tucson....then there's no comparision at all....tucson all the way!!!

If hummer is out than

Hyundia... Hmmmmm... Is now better option if is genuinely 16k on the Odo and in all sense

But still if Rav4 is around 50k driven and is immaculate condition than opt for it but

If not that than hyundia

how did the hummer even end up in that list? all the others are relatively small SUVs. while u may be tempted to spend a little more n get urself the big Mafia styled hummer, keep in mind that its only the cars that are cheap in middle east, not their maintainence!!! u may end up spending a lot of money on its up keep. n i ve heard hummers are not very reliable too, dont know if thats right.

the others are japanese and korean SUVs. they should be fairly reasonable to maintain n would have better resale value too.

Well hummer is a great choice but maintenance could be an issue
I had a kia sorento back in dubai few years back but yea was a kia so had not much resale,maintenance was average and fuel consumption was high , and personally dont like toyota rav4
Go for hyundai tucson as it is fresh looking and reliable with unique interior :wink:, or if you want luxury get a infiniti fx35, or ex35,

if i was you i would a get a accord or lexus ls400 drop it and put chrome rims ;D

thanks all for the suggestions...
- @ahmadbilla, and @asad155, though it's a bigger beast, i added hummer in the above list cuz i was tempted by the price...in 1.2 M hummer is a steal...maintenance can be an issue cuz it's discontinued, resale value might nt b a problem cuz it's already being sold at a bargain price
- @asad155, i liked the infiniti too, but it'z beyond my present budget...over ~ Rs 6.2 M

its a steal BECAUSE of those reasons!! maintaining it is hard n people have stopped buying them now. hence less demand so low price. also, cars depreciate at a very fast rate in the arab world. n it WILL depreciate for the next few years too. with in 5-10 years, these hummers will be sold for no more then 2-3 lakh pkr. so, decide wisely... btw, why do u want to have an SUV in the first place? why not a lexus LS400 or an accord or camry or 3 series or C class?
