If you are going to replace the old compressor with a new one then do the following.
- drain all oil from the old compressor and measure it, now remove this much oil from the new compressor and simply fit it.
suppose new compressor has 140 ml of oil and the oil drained out from the old compressor is 80 ml then you have to remove 140 - 80 = 60 ml oil from the new one.
If you are using the same old compressor again but you don't know how much oil was actually lost during its removal and you are also doubtful about contamination then do the following.
- remove all old oil from the compressor and flush it with new/fresh oil (never use flushing agents for compressor) then fill it with approximately 50% of the total oil capacity of the system. Remember too much oil is also bad for the system.
The best way, however, is to flush out oil from the entire system and then refill it as per specification, this will ensure fresh/uncontaminated and correct volume of oil in the system.
Always use a new drier/filter, once you fit the compressor, before putting the belt on rotate the clutch at least 10 times with your hand.
