How to differentiate bearing noise? Transmission noise

I got a used 2006 Corolla altis Automatic in March 2021 ever since have been trying to make it sound less and trouble free.

With purchasing it the weird whining sound was said to be a wheel bearing noise.

Since then I have replaced tires (to generals /Eurostars) previously it had some Indian tires.

Replaced wheel bearings.

Replaced axels, tried replacing the transmission as well. (Mechanic thot it was transmission bearing).

The sound hasn't gone away. It comes at around 60-80 kmph when you remove the foot from the accelerator. Sometimes its constant. Sometimes it feels growing with the speed.

The mechanic has suggested me to get a doner set of rims/tires and check since their is no noise with the car on the jack.

But my concern is if the tires are bad the sound keeps coming from the front left only.

Luckily I have only paid for the tires till date. But the whining sound won't go away.

Toyota tranmission whining sound, however it goes away at higher speed.

R u using alloys or wheel cups?

To me it shows up at 60/80 kmph.

Yes the car has alloy wheels.

My concern is, if it is tire noise why is it so particular "Goonj" at 60-80 kmph

Its definitely related to something moving.

Since it grows with speed.

i had similar noise which used to come after 50 KPH...on the same car

mech said its tranny, but ruled out by putting car to N at 55KPH and sound remained...its never recommended to put auto tranny to N while moving but i was dealing with Ustaad so had to deal with ustaadi..

on jack, no noise, take the hub out, no noise.

still bearing was bad and gave noise under car load.

the hub was sent to kharadia, he loaded it on machine and it gave noise on spinning...

bearing replaced, noise! Alhamdolillah

cause, i thought it was a boat and let it pass thru 2 feet water, next day there was something wrong!

Eurostar is your culprit bro. This tyre is infamous for its immense noise and poor grip.

But as you said there is more noise from left side then it could be a bad wheel bearing or bad wheel alignment.

There are some bad lathe/tool guys in market who don't even have puller to take out old wheel bearing. They hammer it out, and in return you'll get a bent hub with noise on braking. I always go to dealership when I need a wheel bearing replacement.

I have Weired Noise from back Side in my City Steermatic, there is some kind of Chooza Sound like Chew Chew chew Cho, I tried everything but the Culprit was Something inside the Door lock System. Diagnosed it today will be Resolving it in Coming days !

You replaced the hub or wheel bearing? In my case the wheel bearing is new too 🤦‍♂️

I had weird noise in my car for 10000kms. Checked everything from cv joints to bearings to transmission. Sound use to come at 10-20kms and it vanished during rain. Went for wheel balance one day and sound was gone, turned out it was a loose sticky type weight which used to hit brake everytime.

Ok i agree but the "goonj" is very similar to wheel bearing noise. I guess il drive the car as it is.

It should increase with time if its bad bearing.

Meanwhile il look for a spare set of tires aswell.

Move rear tyres to the front, and get it aligned. See if it works for you.

tried putting it in to N on speed 80 KMPH, The noise is still there, So maybe the transmission isnt the culprit. Tomorrow i have lined up a guy to put on spare tires, lets see how does that turns out to be.

Changing all four tires and rims to see whats the issue. lets see if it works for me.

i wud like to add here that this car likes to have wheels on stock offset, anything wider will make it ride strange and will damage the suspension parts

If i keep the car i plan to put 16" Corolla hatch back or 15" Corolla international variant alloys.

Since the car has Chinese rims and makes the steering to heavy, Currently using 195/65r15, If im not wrong the orignal stock size is 185/70r14

195/65.15 is good enough

original steelies are better than chinese rims, makes the car ride like its on rail tracks

this model or rolla is not tha agile and dont like to be turned sharply, steering is a bit or harder side as compared to later EPS steerings
