How to Calculate Average km/litre

Can someone tell how to calculate that a vechile runs on avg xkm/litre and what it cost per litre. plz guide me in this regard.? Also share how much ur bike gives average.I have sprinter 110cc run only 10000km,

Full up ur tank and reset ur meter to zero.
Then drive 100kms, and go back full up ur tank again.
Then the amount of liters consumed divided by Kms and u get ur answer.

Simple.

1 -First make sure you have your reserve tank full.

2- Empty the tank and put in a liter or two of petrol in it.

3- Note down your odo meter reading.

4- Drive around until you motorcycle stops due to empty tank.

5- Note down reading and switch to reserve so that you can go and refeul your bike as normal.

6- The difference between first and second reading is you average/litre.

motor cycle have reserve tank so this can be done without much hassle. Do keep a notice of odo meter reading whenever u refill. then you can keep a track of your average change as well.

Note the reading
Drive it around for a while
Get a refill
Note the reading again

Now subtract the first meter reading from the second one and divide by the number of liters of fuel that you got in your refill

@hunny i cant set it to zero but i can use the same calc from my current milage. i guess it will give the accurate avg per litre.

can this calculation also be done for cars.

@RB: do i have to divide the meter reading by the 2nd refill or the total fuel consume i.e first and second time..

You should divide the difference in meter reading by the number of liters you pay for on the second refill

sab se asan or sada treeka litre wali bottle main 1 litre petrol dalo or meter not karloor jab tak petrol khatam na ho jay chalatay jao.
this is the simple version and i m sure u will satisfiey by this

Simply ask the bike/Car how much km`s can she do one 1 litre:D:P

Almost all official Suzuki workshops and most other good workshops have a small plastic bottle (generally 500ml) with a pipe to fit the carburettor. They turn off the fuel from tank, take out the pipe connecting the tank to the carburettor, and
start the bike standing on the stand
, when the fuel ends the engine stops. Then, they take the odometer reading, put exactly 100ml petrol in the bottle and connect it to the carburettor, start the bike again and go for a ride, when the fuel ends (3.5km - 6km depending on the bike) they immediately stop the bike and take the odometer reading again. the difference in readings is multiplied by 10 and a rough/approximate typical city average is obtained.

Do not believe 100% what the meter reading says, as most of the meters have a big variation*. There are way too many variables that contribute to incorrect or inconsistant readings.

• Take an
  exact 10km (according to you bike odometer)
  ride on an empty road (if you can find one) at 15 to 20 km/h, mark the starting point ( A ) and finishing point ( B ) exactly. Now travel the exacct same distance from A to B at 70 to 80 km/h (or faster, if you can take the higher variation) and check if the meter reading is exactly 10km as before. This will tell you how much variation the speedometer/odometer has between low and regular (or high) speeds.

Easier way:

• Keep driving and consume fuel till ur bike hits RESERVE
• As soon as RESERVE is turned on note the Milage reading Eg: 2222Kms
• Drive straight to the most near by petrol pump and fill only one liter fuel more
• Turn ur fuel to ON
• Note the reading again Eg: 2224Kms
• Ride ur bike unless it hits RESERVE again
• Note the milage again Eg: 2274Kms
• Add the milage reqired to reach the petrol pump earlier: 2224-2222=2Kms
• Net milage = 2274 + 2Kms = 2276Kms
• Subtract the initial reading: 2276 - 2222Kms = 54Km/Ltr.

Hope u get it. Repeat for a more acurate figure.

No need to fill up tank this method works in cars in bike u have reserve system which helps to calculate km/litre note when your bike will shown reserve just note down the kilometers now put just a liter petrol in it drive it and now again note where your bike got reserve so u have to note kilometer between last reserve and next reserve u will get accurate millage and to calculate cost per liter u have to divide your kilometer ( kilometers which u calculated between both reserves) for example 86rs divided by 50 kilometers = 1.72 this is your rs of cost per kilometer. 50 kilometer is your bike giving average in a litre and 86 rs is price of petrol and I can't understand @89khan's method 2224-2222 and 2274 + 2 km no need to go into it if reserve is 2222 just note it and 2274 just note it
