How much difference per Km on Petrol and CNG

Analyzing from different posts, i believe 90% members here at PW only use CNG and never use petrol (other than starting purposes).

Anyways, with the current rates of Petrol 72/L and CNG 55/Kg, what is the difference of Per Kilometer consumption???

As i'm running my vehicle only on petrol, I need to decide whether putting CNG has any cost benefit or not

Rather you should analyze KM/KG vs KM/LTR and after that price difference

for 1 Kg of CNG, there should be 20~25 KM. for very rush areas 17~18 KM.
for 1 Ltr of Petrol, it is said normally old vehicles do 10~12/13 KM.

It's double impact, [1] more KM on CNG [2] CNG is cheaper than Petrol, Kg vs Ltr

I purely use vehicle on CNG, starting also, CNG is less pollution to environment and oil darkness/dirt also.

i nearly get Rs.3.90/km cost on cng n Rs.7.10/km on petrol on honda civic 1.8 in city....i don't think A.C puts a big difference...never noticed a sheer fall in avg after turing AC On...but what really matters is the cng pressure...if its above 200 bar then one would be getting cylinder totally filled giving u more mileage...otherwise one may get much higher per km cost even on cng....but still its far more cheaper then petrol....I have a better idea about costs as i drive my car on both 15 days each in a month....

Your vehicle is new and advanced EFIs that's why your ratio Petrol : CNG is better. Not much loosing on petrol.
1.8 is jin as compared to 1000cc or 800cc, so definitely it would take more even with MPFI. In old cars we do let engine suffer a bit with tight CNG knob/supply but you won't like it for...

I m running city 2006 on petrol, manual, its giving me around 17-18 km/lit on long route, 14-15 km/lit in city .....
On my recent trips , it gave me 780 - 800 on full 45 liter of tank on long route and i am more than happy with this milleage, becoz on cng it costs me like 2.8-3.8 rs/km and now its costing me like 4-4.5 rs on petrol but it worths when no waiting in huge lines for cng, trunk space, less powered, extra load in car, time saving, bad tunnings, etc.
its not like i m against cng, but its not true saving now a days on it ! due to less margin in petrol and cng price, still it worths a lil , a saving is still there, but not like old times, when i remember, i used to fill my margalla cng tank for 250 rs and run it for 220 kms

i hv bought mehran 2005 model recently n its costing me around Rs3.6/KM...would u ppl pl temme is it right average on mehran ?..i hv heard mehran does abt rs 2/km but in mine case its not and pl also temme if i drive mehran on petrol den wht is its approx average ?

It's high, if you get CNG @ 55.30. so it's doing 15.5 KM/Kg

Should be 19~22 KM / Kg, means 2.5 Rs/Km or 2.9 Rs/Km.

we have two wheels right now,my father is driving 2009 xli n i have 2009 city.both r purely on petrol,never thought about installing cng in any of them...my father's xli is providing 12km/l in city n 14km/l on long...n my honda is providing me 14km/l in city n 17km/l on long...

CNG 200to220 in local with out A/C,240to275 on high way without A/C
PETROL 10to12/Lit in local with out A/C ,13to16/Lit on highway without A/C

15 km / litre for honda civic but sheerly dependent on how much acceleration u taking
i mean higher rpm means sudden drop in fuel capacity optimal rpm on which i always drive on left row of the road you get 15km/l
still less than what you get on cng my alto and khyber do about 2.5-3 rs /km, thats like half of what i pay
but the main disadvantage of cng in cars like civic etc is the engine wear and tear rectify me if i am rong

Dude HOW ???? 220 ???? I hav a cultus aswell, live in Karachi .. What do i do to make it go upto 200 like urs .. Mine goes to 130 With out AC .. !!! :S :S And some one from KARACHI PLEASE ADVISE WHERE I SHOULD GO FOR TUNEUPS .. !!!

Well i posted this thread and then forgot it:P

And now that Almighty Allah has enabled me to spare around 25K rupees for CNG, i was searching google for CNG vs Petrol analysis again and was stunned to find my thread there

Anyways, after going through this thread, and considering that I only drove my charade 2800 Km in one year, I've decided that there are far better options to spend this hard earned money than investing on CNG installation.

@ 8 Km/L (costing around Rs. 8/Km in city driving), I should be more than happy to persisit with petrol.

What you guys think???

I am using my corolla on petrol with in city I used to put Rs1000/ petrol after every 220 to 230 kms so that my tank always filled to top. In this manner I ran my car 4.4Rs/km.
While one of my friend had CNG in same category, he filled his tank for Rs400/ that last for 100kms so he is running Rs4/km.

Your's must be new EFI one. And the road and traffic conditions also matter.

Mine is 82 Charade

I drive only 4Km+4Km daily, warm up the engine for around one minute, around 20% of this 4Km journey is in 1st gear, 30% in 2nd and rest is in 3rd gear (4th is almost out of question!!!).
