(HoneyMoon) Travelling through Pakistan Railway

Hi Guys

Hope you all are doing good. I went through some threads about travelling through railway especially the one in which a member shared lots of images to you pal.

So you guys already have an idea this will be couple travelling what will you guys suggest my possible destination will be from KHI to ISL because we have planned to visit Lahore while coming back to KHI or should land to Lahore? and which train should I choose. January will be the month.

And how should I plan it how many days to stay where as many of my friends have suggested me to visit abbotabad and nathia gali instead of Murree. And what expense can I expect for the stay in guest houses etc etc.

I did some research my self and the night coach shalimar has compartment for 2 people right? but it is for 6k if I am not wrong?

U r right. Same is available in Tezgam, KHI Express & Khyber Mail for 4k each (but they sometimes use old AC Sleeper coach which are deteriorated).

Actually privacy is the main concern actually (my other half do parda) as it will already be winter so A.C wont be required. Any other suggestions Xoofi?

First sleepers (Sleeper without AC) are not used anymore.. So you have to choose from Economy (Non AC, 6 people cabin without doors), AC Business (6 people cabin with door), Parlor (Just like bus) & AC Sleeper (2 or 4 people cabin with attached washroom) classes.

Some trains go till Lahore and some go till Rawalpindi. Its ur choice which to choose.

Just get a two person cabin in any of the train. Since you're newly married you will enjoy even if the train is slow but since you mentioned the parda part, note that in trains the washrooms are at the end of the boggie. They are also not very clean.... For someone like me its a huge problem and every time i have travelled by train, i never went to the washroom.

I prefer travelling by road if you can manage your own ride, it can be a great experience. You can make small stops like HYD/Sukker/Multan/LHE/ISB and may be AJK.

Yes, two person compartment has a sperate washroom. Mostly those compartments are for army quotas only. Need some one from the inside to get your hands on that.

Every time I have to travel between Quetta and Lahore I have to call a person to get the tickets for that cabin.
I am pretty much sure about it as I have been told by a legit source.
Off coarse it could be a different story on shalimar or KHI-LHE services.

Never travelled in the two person compartment ever... the one with four berths does not have a separate washroom in most trains... i do remember travelling by allama iqbal exp once in my student life.. the train was a wreck and non ac but had a separate washroom.

Bhai.. Allama Iqbal is one of the most khachara train of Pak Railways and it has economy class only. May be in ur student life they had First sleeper (NON AC Sleeper class) but they are not used anymore.

Yes back then, they had sleepers... i remember them being pretty large. We travelled in June and i remember it was very very very hot and the train took forever to reach Lahore. I remember sleeping by the window with my head out as much as possible and when i got up all my hair were white with dust. Good'ol days...

AC Sleeper (2 person) cabin is available for 12k in Night coach express which is private owned by Shalimar (2 kids can travel free).

In Railway owned trains, Karachi Express, Tezgam & Khyber Mail have it for 4k (per person).

Above mentioned fare is between Karachi & Lahore.

Between Karachi express, Tezgam and Khyber Mail which one is better in terms of time and cabins ?

Just saw on railways site that karachi express has the least stops (10). So time wise I guess it is a better option between khi and lahore
