Honda D16, compression testing

after my ex engine (D16Y8) was rebuilt, we(Ghuncha and i) decided to do its compression check.

took out all 4 plugs and wires out.

press throttle and crank till max reading.

this is the max we could get ( 150 )

after engine swap with a (D16Y6) we again tried doing the same. unfortunately the gauge got stuck which came out with real difficulty and i could not take a picture.happiness turned into tension....

reading we got was ( 180 )

very very few workshops keep this gauge as far as i know (like a member told me "liquimoly" workshop, or how ever u spell it....has it)

takes a few minutes and u can bust the condition of the engine accurately !

Just googled and read "how to perform compression test on your car". I believe the gauge isn't expensive and the test can be performed at home.

the repair manual for D16Z6,D16Y6,D16Y8 said anything from 135 psi to 199 psi was considered normal, with maximum variance between cylinders of 28 psi, consistency between all 4 cylinders is the key point over here and should be done on an engine that has been warmed up and brought upto operating temperature , a wet compression test should also be performed to if one cylinder gives a drastically low reading.

we googled our engines compression value.
foreign sites and farangi's say a good D16 should give a compression of around 180

True!
i assume a good d16 should be able to put 190/200 on the gauge which is probably near to 10:1.
I tested out my 4g63t which has a compression of 7.8:1 and got 160 across all the cylinders.

this tester is easily available, i bought one for 3000/-. Excellent stuff to identify engine issues.
