Dear Friends,I have previously discussed the problems with my car Honda civic 96 exi on pw forums. The car giving a lot of trouble and the engine block was totally wasted. Had no choice but to overhaul or swap. Finally the mechanic recommended a swap. I am totally illiterate about car problems and remedies. I had to trust the mechanic. Anyways I paid him some advance and he purchased an engine from dry port in I-9 Islamabad. When i asked him about the market near railway track in rawalpindi he told me that those engines are not fit as many of their parts are replaced. Whereas on dry port the container is opened and they purchase engine as in its original condition. I dont exactly know but i think it is d16 or something like that. Along with engine radiator was changed as well. New radiator has plastic top. As per mechanic it was the best. He also told me that thermostat valve will be fully functional and fan will be on auto mode. He also told me that if i want the engine to be trouble free , i should get rid of the "buraee ki jarr" CNG. And I did get rid of it. The car was ready in a couple of days. He didnt give me the receipt for engine. He said that after completing 600 kms I should get back to him and change the oil. And after another 1000 kms if there are no complaints or trouble he'll give me the receipt. Its been ten days since the swap and the oil level and color is same as it was on day 1. Not a single drop of water have decreased from the radiator or the side bottle. My question: What signs should i be looking for , for a healthy engine? What are the warning signs?waiting for your valuable inputs.
no over heating?no oil reduction?
take the car to pir sohawa with 4 people plus AC for final testgari ya phat jay gi(j/k), or would prove its fine

ECU is the engine control unit and varies engine to engine.

This is ECU number for D16A however there are exceptions . Tell us what number your ecu is
@imranjamilkhan u have met an honest guy, please do share his contact no. and address, its really hard to find such a mechanic that guides u well............
Sir, Name of the mechanic is Rashid. Workshop is on tipu road. Take a left turn at fauji towers, (on rawal road when coming from airport) Cell#0300-5153860. He himself owns a honda civic prosmatech in an excellent condition.
Afnan bhai on which part is this ecu number written?
Well it is a steel box if your engine is swapped then its probably behind your stereo console. If you have mismatch ecu then you can have all sorts of troubled

I'll suggest you should immediately take a reciept of engine....You shouldn't compromise on legal issues...regardless engine turns out to be good or bad reciept is must... yes you can wait for some time before getting engine registered to vehical from exise office so that if it does not not turns out to be good and wants reswap some hassle could be saved......but whatever engine you buy take first reciept immediately...
did you get it swaped with a vtec no pcs of the swaping and engine did you change the belts
It is not a vtech. Today went for the 1st oil change after 600 Kms... Got the receipt for engine as well. So far everything seems to be working fine. And unbelievably a mileage of 14 km/l in local. I wasnt expecting more than 10 km/l.
recently i got mine civic vti 97 overhauled. its also giving 14 km + average with ac nice to know every thing went fine with your swap. keep it away from gas.
hi.how much did it cost for the swap? i am seriously looking to change my engine of honda civic 97 asap.
regards
The engine costed me 46,000 , 6000 for a new plastic top radiator, fluids, oils and filters 45,00, labour 13000. All Totals around to 70,000
