Hi Everyone,
I am from Lahore and have a 2019 Honda Civic which has a total mileage of a little over 21500, my car is fully maintained by an authorized Honda service center. The last time it went for regular oil change etc. in march 2021 when my car reached 20K. I don't open the hood besides checking battery water. and no one uses this car except me.
A few days back I went to Murree with family and halfway my car stalled with all the check lights on. The engine was overheated and before stalling there was no check light to indicate any issue.
I opened up the hood and let it cool for few minutes before opening up the radiator cap and when I poured some water it came out like a spring geyser. I waited ~30 mins and tried turning on the engine and then I sensed the "missing problem". called a local mechanic he checked whatever he could and replaced one coil (took about 1.5 hours to find a suitable coil in Murree), engine oil, and filled up coolant again, and suggested that I should go to Islamabad and get it checked. It didn't start initially and then after few tries, it started, and this time the second coil gave up.
I went back to Islamabad to one of the Honda authorized service centers. They replaced all the coils (60K rupees) and even then they couldn't start the engine. They checked the fuel pump and declared that it is faulty and needs to be replaced but they don't have any at the moment. They inserted it again and this time the car started. During the test drive, the car performance felt underwhelmed so they told me they would need to change the gasket now. The car engine was overheated and probably have caused damage to the gasket as well (the oil dipstick melted). After spending over 125K my car with gasket changed engine head faced and all coils changed, my question to them was that what caused that. The answer was maybe you or your driver or someone who washed the car opened up the radiator cap and didn't close it properly (The last time I got my car serviced was before the 20K maintenance visit and I use waterless cleaning product for my car body so their "diagnosis" is incorrect).
The next day my car didn't start again and I had to call towing service to get my car back to Lahore. Luckily it started as we were about to load it on the truck.
I have all the maintenance, car service, fuel record, tyre pressure record etc. I am not even sure what could have caused it. Please help my here and suggest the next step
Also of it could be due to fuel pump, shouldn't all these expense be taken care by honda?
