Honda Civic 1997 Fuel Economy Problem

Need a help;

I own Honda Civic 1997 New Kabli D15B engine installed. First oil changed and used Shell RIMULA 15W-40. I am having big problem with its fuel economy. It is giving me 5-6km in city and 7-8km on highways without AC and normal accelerator (1800-2000 rpm) with an average speed of 60-65 km/h. What could be done with this to improve. I have heard that a normal Civic 1996-2000 gives 12km in city and 14-15km on highways.

Kindly note that this is my first ride and I don't have good knowledge about cars. Your help will be highly appreciated.

You are using wrong engine oil, use Shell Helix 10W40 engine oil. Also you need to scan the car for codes present. Also what about radiator fan is it direct and thermostat valve present? Also if possible get compression test done.

W.salam,I would suggest using 5w-30 of any good brand of your choice if your engine is less than 200k on the odometer and not beat up. Otherwise 10w-40 is the Max you should use for your vehicle. Also make sure to use a good quality oil filter like leppon. Thicker oils will compromise your fuel economy.

Well yes there are two thing that I can share here,
1. The fan is not direct.
2.. There is check engine light. I went for a scan that showed an error of Camsensor. The mechanic told that this engine doesn't have any can sensor so the error couldn't be removed. Is this true? And what else I can do?

Really thankful for recommendation. Do you suggest any other recommendation for car as well or you think it's only because of that electrical problem.

I had kept a civic 97 in the past. I was facing the same issue rather more serious issues. The car used to misfire and nothing was good in the last days of the car. Even car used to get over heat and I couldn't be bothered about its fuel economy because it wouldn't stop missing. I sold ot on as it is basis to a mechanic who later changed its ECU. The owner before me of this car changed the engine and gear but didn't chane the ECU. Obviously the replaced engine was not stock.

Nothing else just call him and take your car to him. He will sort out all issues and it will get trouble free.
