Honda CG 125 Euro 2 2012 related issues

I am riding a Honda CG 125 Euro 2 2012. Got it in start of June 12. Did my first oil change at 450km and then 1st tuning at 1000km from Honda 4S.

Now I am using after market fuel tank, side covers, a mediocre China make HID lite, with NGK G Power plugs. Oil that I am using is Castrol Activ 4T 20W50 Jaso MA specified wet clutch type.

Now let us come to the problem. My bike revs silk smooth, has great acceleration with striking sound from muffler at high revs and reaches 90km/h with full power in eye blink. At about 100km/h there is still considerable throttle left, but the bike refuses to accelerate further. When I twist on throtle to its full, speed does not exceed than 100km/h. It feels like the last 2/10 throttle has no effect on acceleration and bike is unable to give its full throughput. BTW I have completed 1300 km till yet in total.

Brothers with same bike out there should share their experiences regarding the issue I mentioned with any suggestions would be appreciated...

Bhai, i own a April 2011 model. When it was new i also faced the same problem but my cousins and few other CG experts told me to ignore it till 3 services are done. At that time my bike could hardly touch 105kmph ( single ) and 95kmph ( double passenger ).

And now after 3 services, my issue has been solved. And i recommend you to wait till 3 tunings of your bike

Thanks ha125 for your prompt reply.. so you are suggesting to wait till about 3,000 Km mark. That means engine and all moving parts including carb will require a 3k mark for complete break in...

engine runing and fine tuning of pertole suply and air mixture and they will set it at 3rd tuning than ur issue will be ok!
aggr ziada jaldi hai to petrole khulwao bike ka carbuarator se aur mixture set krvao speed pao milage ghatao!!

NFS thanks for the input, so you suggest that a CG 125 not red lining on 4th gear needs a jetting adjustment in the carburetor which can reduce your mileage but will solve the top speed issue. Ok. BTW I am of the opinion do not expect more than 110-115 Km/h on a normal day with not much wind resistance and with a single rider.

yes 110 to 120 max u can expect!
as some ppl have achived a mark of 120 on it!!
btw how,s the vibration on such speeds?
as the previouse one was hell horrible at such speed :mad:

Oil:
Have you tried thinner oils in your CG such as 10W40. And any difference in feel if you use 20W50 instead of 20W40? BTW 20W40 is suggested by Honda in its manual.

Spark Plugs:
Honda suggests spark plug of heat rating (8) in NGK series, going long roads for longer periods on higher loads often reduces engine's full throughput due to spark plug getting hotter. That is also my personal experience. Honda's manual says: If you need full power long runs, use a colder plug. In NGK series, the colder plug has the heat rating of (9).

Standard CG 125 plug: DPR(8)EA-9
Cold plug: DPR(9)EA-9 (cold plug has double 9 in its part number)

Has any one found the colder plug? I am unable to find it in the market. The NGK G-Power Platinum plug (DPR8EGP-9) although uses a Platinum electrode which would give it a very long life but still its heat rating is (8) which is the standard one and not the colder one. The G-Power plug does loose power on long runs as per my experience. It may only prove longer lasting and durable plug as compared to standard NICKLE electrode plug.

Now that is the best part bro, at 100Km/h, new model shines in this area. Very little vibration that I felt in the handle bars only, none in the body and very small to none in the foot pegs. It feels more like normal road texture vibes. Best example to match would be a CD 70. The new model does not vibe more than a CD 70...

Yes exactly the same, even I have the box in front of me right now on table.
Well it is just a plug, nothing like a boost in my opinion which would stress out baby engine of my bike. Only the electrode is platinum alloy instead of nickle, which would result in better electric current conduction and increase its over all life. That's all it is about. OR the other way around you can change 3 normal plugs in the price of it... Saves you from plug maintenance

I have used these three oils in my deluxe
Zic 4t 10w40
AHL 20w40
Caltex Havoline 20w50

First I used Havoline than dealer admired zic too much so i gave it try too
than i tried AHL,than recently gave another try to Zic And i did not like it
Only in Zic 4t I felt engine Hotter, i mean engine was getting hot quickly

Now finally back to caltex havoline
In my opinion caltex havoline 20w50 is working best and suiting my deluxe's engine
bike is running cooler,smoother & its not getting hot So its my choice now & I will be using it
I don't feel heat in my feet as i felt while using Zic 4t 10w40
although these days its hot summer

AHL 20w40 served ok too

Only in Zic 4t I felt engine Hotter, i mean engine was getting hot quickly
In my opinion caltex havoline 20w50 is working best and suiting my deluxe's engine
AHL 20w40 served ok too

Welcome to CG 125 Club

Do not use NGK try to get Atlas Honda Genuine Plug available at all antenna shops in your city would cost you around Rs. 120/=.
Now come to the so far Caltex Havoline is best available oil in market. Avoid ZIC, Liqui Molly, Shell and etc...

Do not try to give full throttle untill you will not complete 2k it could be harmful for engine life. Bike can go beyond 110kms/hr i assure you. This is CG125 not any China or Irani made motorcycle. When you go for next tune up ask your mechanic you want 120kms on your meter so he will adjust fuel according to your requirements. 2012 CG is already giving 44-48kms/ltr. So nothing to be worried if they set fuel mixture according to your taste would give you around 40-42kms/ltr.

This is my personal experience with 2012 Honda CG 125 EURO2. Bike has minor vibration as compare to previous models.
