Help needed regarding motor swap in Honda Concerto

Salam everyone.

I need guidance and suggestions regarding an engine swap in my '92 model Honda Concerto. The chassis code is MA2 and it originally comes with a JDM 1.6 ZC/ D16a8/9 engine. The person I bought it from had it changed to a B13, which I want to change.

I want to know which motor could be a comparatively easy swap, without too much modification. And since a lot of time and energy is going to be spent, I want it to be worthwhile.

Someone was selling a K20 and said it should be ok but I'm not sure since...would appreciate any comments on that.

I'd especially request Xulfiqar and other experts for their input!

Do you mainly require economy or power?
The ZC along with other D-series will be a bolt on fit for the concerto, killing the headache of changing/altering mounts.

@Rohaan Economy would be a high priority since I'm not going to go for CNG but power, when needed would be a plus. What would you suggest?

Id really suggest you go with a D15B VTEC or a D16Z6 since these are engines that will provide you a decent amount of power and a whole lot of economy at the same time.

Oh - I beleive anyone who knows hondas knows about concertos, its basically a civic EF/Integra DA platform, everything is pretty easy - choose your engine and anything that fits into those cars will fit here too.

Just dont get overboard and do a cheap job of gluing a H22 to this car, it works but only if you yourself are some sort of mechanic.

@Rohaan Thank you for the suggestion. Which one would you rate better, the D15B Vtec or the D16Z6? Any suggestions regarding the 1-2 or 3 stage v-tec in the same genre?

@Spoon My range should be about 50k-100-110k for the swap.

@Xulfiqar Much appreciated...and relieved as well! I have a simple question: If you had this car, which engine would YOU choose for it? I remember reading your comment on the Suzuki G13b once and you said 'nothing feels like it'. What would be the same for a Honda motor compatible/BEST suited with my car? The best mix for power and economy.

Also, I'll be getting the swap done from a 3S dealership owned by a close friend

d16z6 that is more power and economy both at the same time dont think much you dont have any other choice you can swap b20/b18 LS h22 h23 k20 k24 b16 b18 anything it just depends on what you want from your car but in that price range i would only suggest for d16z6

I would also go for the D16Z6 in this or a bone standard B16A if I found one cheap.

Otherwise a D16Z6 will give you no headache service and everything will be in place where it should be. This is a pretty decent car, its a bit heavier than civics but the interior is quite nice. If I recall a freind from Japan telling me these cars were sold at upscale honda dealerships where they sold Vigors, Integras etc.

Thanks a lot guys. The D16Z6 sounds like a good fit in terms of pricing and maintenance but the B16A has more hp, more reputation...and more price! If the difference in price is worth it, I'd certainly consider it if I knew why.

Also, what are the chances of getting either one of these motors in mint condition? Would Bilal Gunj be the place or should I look out of city as well?

Btw, I intend to go for an auto transmission.

@Xulfiqar It really is a very decent car and since it's a bit rare, the price is a real bargain. The interior is great...dark brown color throughout and mine is luckily in perfect condition. The exterior is in good condition as well but I intend to keep the car for a while so am getting a complete make over - engine, suspension, body, paint, everything. And a sober, stock look - no neon or stickers!

If you're willing to go for the Auto tranny, check out the D15B 3-stage VTEC that comes with the Multimatic transmission. Most of them here come with Auto ECU's and wiring so you'll get a complete setup easily. Mine's with a manual transmission and is giving me 14-17km/l in normal city driving throughout

@Rohaan I've checked the multimatic online and it certainly sounds interesting. Do you think a D15B 3 stage with multimatic can be bolted on in my car? Also, what do you think would be the approximate cost of the setup?

i do agree with what SpoonMotorSports has said as you can go with any bigger engine (Dohc) you like if you have money,if you need power with economy just find a d16z6 and slap it in.
z6's are better than D15b's btw.

This car's body parts can be a pain - so be wary of that.

Yup, the body parts aren't easy to come but as of yet, I haven't had a problem finding the head and rear lights and suspension stuff. It remains to be seen once the car is fully stripped and the search begins for the hard to find stuff!
