ORIGINAL SETUP COMPROMISES OF AN ACCESS POINT AND REPEATER:
I have got a Huawei hg8247 wireless router connected via TP-link router WA500G as a universal repeater. The main reason for this configuration is that a desktop computer downstairs being using by my mom requires an Ethernet connection plus that it in other corner of the house so signal used to become very weak before reaching this zone and by doing so, our problem has been solved.
NOW ADDING 4-5 WIFI CAMERAS ON ORIGINAL NETWORK:
I am planning to buy four to five wireless WIFI IP cameras and recently after browsing for answers, I have found out that signal congestion issue so have decided to deal with the issue by adding another access point configured with main access point in a wired fashion while retaining the original repeater in place.
ADDING EXTERNAL WIFI ANTENNA TO THE SECOND ACCESS POINT: TP-LINK
The second access point which I am going to configure in a wired manner will have an EXTERNAL WIFI Omni directional ANTENNA with 25dB gain. This router will only handle the WIFI IP cameras which will be installed in every hook and corner of the house and will further be attached with NVR and will not be used for any other purpose.
WOULD ABOVE SETUP WILL WORK AND WILL FURTHER AVOID DATA CONGESTION:
Here the question arises is: do you think, the above system would work under current setup of two access points and a universal repeater. I did not want to make another standalone system as for that I would require another internet connection to upload the data on internet and plus I want the feature and capability to use existing setup so that I may view the videos also directly on my cell phone and over laptops, desktop computers without the need for switching over the multiple times. Since, WIFI IP cameras would have chewed my original bandwidth so by doing so I would put the entire load of IP-cameras on second access point..
CAN WE KEEP THE CHANNEL, WIFI ENCRYPTION OF SECOND ACCESS POINT DIFFERENT FROM FIRST
I know as how to configure an access point, repeater, bridges etc. but I have never tried configuring two access point being connected in a wired fashion. Here questions are that can I keep the WIFI Channel, wifi signal encryption type and security encryption completely different from that of default access point. I know we will have to disable the DHCP server of secondary access point in this case.
DOES DATA CONGESTION OCCURS DUE TO THE LIMITATION IMPOSED BY WIFI ONLY:
Another question is, usually people say that data congestion occurs on original WIFI router once you add more IP CAMERAS to it as original system is also being used by your android phones, apple phones, ipads, laptops etc. I hope the above is not valid for wired ip cameras even on original home network system.
Kindly comment on the drawback of the scheme I intend to use above.
