It will take around 2 to 2:30 hours to get to Derawar Fort. Derawar Fort is about 95 km from Bahawalpur. From Bahwalpur get to the GT Toad towards Karachi. From Ahmedpur East Bypass take the left turn towards Dera Nawab Cantt. Before Entering Dera NAwab Cantt take Left turn and then right from the next rurn
Picture 1 is showing the directions.

Keep on goin on this road unless the road take 90 degree turn and then after a km you have to take right turn.this is small coutryside raod leading to chaks.

Keep on going strainght on this road unless you reach an intersection at Sahiwala Bangla or Plantation site, Take Left Turn from here and from the next intersection ake right ... after this keep on goin strainght for about 20, 25 km

@ammarkh
Thank you very much for this post. I saw the other thread and was going to enquire about the roads you took, no need for it now. A few other questions:

  1. Which vehicle were you using? Is the road OK for cars or do we need a 4WD? General condition of the road? (I intend to go there on a bike.)

  2. What facilities are available at the fort? In the picture of the mosque I noticed what looks like road-side hotels and in the last picture a few houses.

  3. You wrote

    It is better to get permission from the caretakers of the Fort before reaching there.
    where do we find the caretakers? I am asking from the point of view of someone visiting Multan and taking a side trip to Bahawalpur and Derawar fort with not much time.

Please, I also need the info. Camping is allowed inside the fort?

hello asad

road is not bad....you dont need a 4 WD to get there. Half of the way road is in good condition but other half after shaiwala it is single small road, you can imagine one go to chaks.... you can easily get there on bike. and even in small cars... there were few huts where cold drink and mineral water is easily available. as far as caretaker is concerned .. i got his number from ptdc motel in Bahawalpur and then i went to dera nawab he was there at sadiqgarh palace. i am sorry i misplaced his number. i dont have it right now with me.
