Fuel Efficient Diesel Engine

Dear Pakwheelers,

Kindly intimate which diesel engine will be best suited for CJ7 (converted to wrangler) which may have mileage of 15 - 20 km/l.

The jeep shown on https://www.pakwheels.com/forumreply_az_TopicID!84215~ForumID!12~pw.html

has a engine giving 15 km/l.

My requirements are for daily usage , not offroading.

Expert opinion is required.

I believe there is your answer. It might be a tad underpowered but if you don't intend on offroading you should be fine. 3c-t is 2200 cc turbo if I'm not mistaken.

i dont think a 3CT can give anything more than 12KM/L on a Jeep. You must take into consideration the non aerodynamic shapes of Jeeps

3CT if used in car can give around 16-17KM/L depending the driving style...

for the kinda of Jeep you are having.. i suggest go for 2LT or a 3L (non turbo).. the reason is power to weight ratio.. CJ7 converted to wrangler weight alot!! a small engine will die down soon

a non turbo engine will give you better millage so 2L or 3L non turbos are ur choice

again if you get a 10KM/L average from a jeep.. ur lucky

So as a final decision which engine will you propose. Brands other than Toyota like Isuzu, Mercedes, etc may also be considered. The main issue is fuel consumption.

Power may not be much, just suitable.

Get a TD27 NISSAN. Its available at half of price of 2L and is equally good for your application.

Nissan has some spare parts issue.. i remember i saw a RD28 6 cylinder diesel in a pretty shabby shape.. although they are powerful

you're getting 15-20 km / ltr on a 3c engine (which I tend not to believe) and you're asking for an economical engine. Can it get any better than that?

there is a lot of air drag on a jeep,its not aerodynamic.Even the latest D4D engine's can not give you more than 10~12kpl.
20kpl is not possible for a jeep.

that jeep was mine
and yeah, it gave me a good mileage of 12 in the city and 15 on highway.....thats wat i hav experienced
else its upto u if u believe or not
and let me tell u that its not an underpowered engine
i've been running it since 3 years and never gave me a single problem. IJC has witnessed its offroading capabilities!
