Fuel consumption: Does Altis 1.6 Automatic do more than GLI 1.3 Automatic?

Although logic does not accept that 1600cc is economical than 1300cc, but Toyota dealership is boldly claiming that Altis 1.6 Automatic does 15/16 km while GLI 1.3 Automatic does only 12/13 km/l. They say it is due to Dual VVTi system in Altis. Can any existing user friend confirm this claim?

10.5-11.5 in city
13.5-15.5 Highway

May be 1.6 has better fuel consumption than 1.3
Apart from consumption 1.6 has many other options like Altis Meter, steering controls & sound system. Plus if you go for 1.6 then you don't need to change Tyres & rims.

1.6 A/T will give you slightly better fuel economy as compared to 1.3 AT.
1.3 AT is a gas guzzler with very poor power to weight ratio.
1.6 also offers better value to money by offering steering controls, grande like meter, rims, tyres side skirts, etc

This is what I am getting in Lahore on my 1.6 after the first oil change (Taglon 5w50) with meter reset at full tank (auto click).
Odo was at 5040kms when tank was filled.

Route: Bahria town lahore to cantt daily. Its even better than my manual 7th gen civic.

1.6 gives better mileage because in case of 1.3 its power to weight ratio is very bad. A lot of fuel is spent by 1.3 in pushing the heavy body to get it moving. 1.3 needs more jaaaan to push it to 50-100 from standing point so it used more fuel hence 1.6 giving more mileage

Mileage at 120 with AC is 15
At 100 with AC is 16.
In city with AC it return 11-12 in Lahore.

Mileage depends mainly on the type of route you drive on. If GLi manual was giving you 12, 1.6 will give more or less the same.

Bro, do u think oil matters? What about the oil toyota dealers use? Wont the warranty void if we use other than their toyota oil. 2ndly, was ur avg always same since start or improved afterwards?

Both come with the same transmission i. E. The superect. Which is the crappiest of the transmission nowadays. When i had the 1.6 it never gave me above 8 in Karachi

New altis 1.6 2018 giving me 15 and 11 respectively, with normal driving (neither hard nor soft). If you are getting lower average, something is wrong with your car.

Gli has the worst mileage in all corolla variants...my grande gives me 10.6-10.8 kmpl in Lahore traffic and that's better than what my gli friends get..simple. 1.6 is also better than 1.3. 1.3 is the worst when comes to body weight ratio and i think only Pakistan has this 1.3 variant available.. fooling our awaam
