Engine swap from D15Z4 to D16Y4

I have civic EXI automatic 1997. My stock car engine is quite old now and I wart to change it.

after visited Mithu ka ihata saddar for buying engine but d15z4 is no longer available in market.

I found japnese D16Y4 non VTECH in best condition.

I will just change the engine assembly while other stock accessories will connect with it. I will not mess with engine wiring, e.g ecu etc.my question from dear

experts... tell me does I had to change the ECU? or old ECU will work fine.. its urgent .. share ur opinions. @xulfiqar @racerali

to get the best and most out of the 120hp engine
ecu should be swapped

but here in pk, in VTI's 96-2000 i saw dual stage vtec assemblies (D15's) swapped, leaving the stock ecu& wiring intact. (you end up getting lower performance and non functional 2nd vtec)

@racerali ... aoa. i need it for daily use.. i had swapped D16y4 a non vetec engine in my 1997 exi. and swap seem to be success full drive became smooth
and feels lighter.. i didn't changed any thing .. just engine block is swapped . even using old fuel injectors and didn't changed the ECU ... it ist day drive about 130km .. it was smooth and sound less.
i will check it performance and it fuel consumption . then later i will decide whether to go for new ecu or not. what u suggest . regards

From Where you Done this Swap Local Mechanic or any Other.

Does The Old Engine is Vtec or Non Vtec

In My Opinion you can Go with Original ECU and Wiring.Do A Compression Test for Engine Health.check for any Sound.Check Leak

Both Engines r Non Vtec.That's Good you don't need to change Wiring and ECU.I recommend Compression Test From Honda Centre Rawalpindi but i don't think they only Do Compression test So you can do that from any good mechanic which has Petrol Engine Compression Tester Available.And what your Mechanic says about your New Engine.

You should contact pakwheeler @rozzz he can perform compression test and sort out other things for your Honda.

You can use the old ecu, good thing with honda is the sensors are same in different models.

But if you use old ecu you will be running too much timing for the d16 and not enough fuel top end.
