Hi guys Recently Got myself a 2000 civic.
Will be doing some pretty kick *** Visual mods on it soon.

The main question i wanted to ask is which engine would you guys prefer.

My basic requirements
1. Nice power
2. EXCELLENT fuel economy

I am having a pretty tough time figuring out which engine to swap. a few people recommended me a k20. but from what i've heard a k20z fuel economy varies from 7-11.. that is still too high for me. Yeah i know now you would be wondering why should i get myself a mehran instead. But its a general question i would like to ask.

Experts kindly share your views.

and between 150-200 hp is enough power for me

why dont u stick with the stock setup ? whats wrong with it ?
forget about economy if ur looking for power from ur swap

Its a vti
And as for that well i am a speed freak..But now into UNI. and well dad's not gonna be that lenient anymore cuz the travelling is gonna be pretty intense. I wanted something like on low revs i get extra good milage and on high revs it can drop down to as low as it wants.cuz thats just a stretch and that doesnt matter

If u r looking for 150-200 hps then forget about fuel economy....and K20 will not b a fuel efficient engine...basic thing is u can add CAI, Headers, free flow downpiping, better spark plugs and wires all this will add around 5 hps and ur stock engine is 125hps if i am not wrong so ul end up around 130 hps.....if u want to enjoy power turbo charge ur current setup it will b good for 7-8 psi on stock internals and will giv ur desired hps but as u said its daily driven turbo is not advised....for NA setup B and H series should be ur target...a lot of swaps of H22 r going on these days....rest its upto u....

d16z6...

how much does a h22 produce and whats its avg fuel economy?? i was thinking of a supercharger isntead of a turbo cuz u can control when its on and when its off. so that not gonna harm my daily drive...

d16z6.

bro kindly mention its hp and its fuel consumption. cuz i dont want to open google everytime :stuck_out_tongue:

here is the deal bro a d16z6 comes around 125hp from factory. Its a vtec sohc motor and around 144nm torque

a vtec engine let that be a b16 or d15 is fuel economical and powerful both at the same time! thanx to Hondas vtec system but yeah a certain engine that is made for fuel economical state in mind will always be better than a vtec engine bellow vtec you will always get good mileage around 12-13 with all the dseries and bseries engine if the engine is in pristine condition and fully tuned to factory specs now you have to compromise both power and economy a little bit to get the benefit of both at the same time but if you want a motor that gives you 22km/Liter and is around 200hp - so sorry for raining on your parade but i never came across such engineering by Honda nor by any other car manufacturer
your best bet will be sohc vtec with a good intake setup good exhaust setup and a spare chipped ecu  with a good set of clutch

Yea also include some ricing CF hood n trunk tht will reduce weight n increase fuel economy n better response.

@op: ^ this guy knows what he's talkin about ,ur best bet is to listen to him .....economy and power well these are 2 completely different things .....h22 is never going to be light on fuel no matter how lightly you drive it .....

@poster SpoonMotorSports is ri8,he is the man when it comes to honda motors.
some days back i was too in the same situation as you are at present.
souped up the internals of my d16w9,well its a long tale summry is that it got blown.
i asked SpoonMotorSports(a great budd) and we broke into the decesion that i'l have to go for k20 for poweer, though i'l compromise on consumption.
i'l get the k20 this evening:)
will make a thread and update u all:)

How much would a d16z6 cost me in prime condition. Please tell me about air induction which would you prefer supercharger of turbo? and their effects on fuel consumption on low revs..

there is a d16z6 in peshawar complete with aftermarkt 4-2-1 headers he is asking 70k when i inspected the engine the head was opened and the stock fpr plate was blocked the engine looked like a performance overhauled you should be able find a d15,d16 around 60-75k depending on your bargain skills as far as air induction system goes i dont like superchargers at all they are responsive but lack in power and makes the engine rev abit slower its more like a parasite and can damage your crank/bearings if the supercharger pulley is in a bad shape sudden boost can kill your tranny aswell where as a turbo is more fuel efficient provides more power and pretty much easier to find why fuel efficient? the reason is variable boost even if you set your wastegate setup to 20psi you wont be able to get to 20psi in first gear all of a sudden and can cruise with no problems at all but hey thats what i prefer - a turbo over a supercharger but mostly 90% of force fed hondas are turbocharged tuning for fuel efficiency isn't a hard task but takes time and some money you'll be getting as much as 15+Km/Litter if your engine control unit is tuned professionally (actually that isnt that hard but it takes time - say around 30 dyno pulls or more!?!?) but once you are in boost BYE BYE FUEL economy

@poster put this through your mind that u cant get performance and economy at the same time,u will have to compromise for one thing.
btw if i were at your place......i think b16 is the motor for you, power, reliability and if u want economy that much, get it cng'd:D

And which turbo would you exactly recommend.. And the cost as well :p. So what ur trying to say is that with a turbo and a d16z6 And optiimum tunning i can have around somewhat 130 hp and 15km/litre.

As for the last part didnt get what ur saying. What i understood was the once i rev the car lets say in a race then Zero fuel economy ? if that is so then i am perfectly fine with it. During a race or a period of revving i am least concerened abt the fuel economy. But during normal routine it should be good. And if the setup u reccoment will give me 15km/l on a normal daily drive with a turbo Then That is JUST WHAT I WANTED

the turbo that you use depends on your pocket everyone wants a gt40r dual BB turbo NO!? remember the bigger the turbo the lesser the boost

yes but you would be needing larger injectors FPR a good fuel cell a good fuel pump and someone who would kill his time on your low cam fuel tables when you roam around in normal cruise your tuner should shoot for 14.1 afrs if possible with tuned timing according to boost but dont fall into this your tuner should be doing all this and with a light foot you'd be having a good mileage even with a not so perfect tune under boost(means when you arn't boosting just cruising) you should be getting atleast 11km/l

Bro Kindly gime a quote price of all the stuff i would need and and the fair prices at which i should get them. And what exactly i should ask my tuner to do.
Kindly tell me in a bit of detail so that i may understand that as well. U can pm me that if u wish

current situation
y not go for B series FRANK in their and keeping it stock with just stage one upgrades ?
