Engine oil recommendation

Dear all, i need suggestion for appropriate engine oil for my below mentioned cars.
1) gli 2012 (270000 km driven)
2) gli 2012 (170000 km driven)

I have been putting Zic 5w20 in both the cars since 2012 and none of them burns oil till date.
On last oil change the oil shop guy recommend to not use zic 5w20 as car's milage is high and suggested to put high viscosity oil.
I travel from Islamabad to Sargodha and back, every week. ( Long route with Ac)
My concern is, if my car is not burning oil, should i switch to higher viscosity oil or stick to same zic 5w20.
Looking forward to expert opinion.

5W-30 is perfect for your car. Use Total Quartz 9000. Fully synthetic as well.

Keep using what you are using....no need to listen to mechanics or oil change guys....and stop believing when they say "put high viscosity oil for high mileage car"

If you cars are running fine then you should keep using your old brand. Mileages are quite and if they are still not burning oil, It means you maintained them very well. As general practice people do switch to high viscosity to avoid potential problem of oil burning.

If you feel like changing brand, Total Quartaz 5w30 is quite good.

No need to switch to extra higher viscosity like 10w30 or highers. since ur driving is high speed, u can use the upper range of recommended viscosity of 5w30. Refer the last line of toyota recommendation

keep using what u r using. there is no car manual which suggests to shift to higher viscosity as the vehicle ages.

Engine Oil Grade Selection

There's a theory, increase oil grade with mileage, like when recommended is 0w20, at 50k kms use 5w30 and 100k 10w40 I wasn't able to understand logic behind this, because I've never came across manfacturer recommendation like this, can anyone explain in detail? Thanks

but in Pakistan the "purana aur acha" aka "dada ki vegzall" aka "purana ustaad mechanic" syndrome cannot be removed.

according to mechanic engine oil is a "khaalis product" and nothing is added to it. he doesnt know anything about additives or viscosity index improvers etc. He is still stuck with "tel garamm ho ke patla hojata hai"

you can fix anything - except inept stubborn stupidity.

Toyota showrooms also follow this mentallity, they put 5w50 in new cars and now they have put 10w30 in 30k driven corolla.

No need to switch. Just continue using ZIC A+ 5w-20 but just always ensure that engine oil is 100% genuine and original.

At max., switch to Total Quartz 9000 Future Series 5w-30 if you would ever wanna switch. Its another great oil.

He is correct use 10w30 Toyota petron engine oil.
It's best for the NZ series.
