Engine Oil Guide for Toyota GLI 2010

Aoa and hi dear Pakwheelers.

I own Gli 2010 and using Shell Ultra 5w-40.

Now i wanted to seek expert opinion that trying Mobil 0w-40 or 5w-30 or
Trying Liqui Moli 5w-40 synthiol will be a healthy experiment or not??
I came to know that these are the best engine oils having 10-15K mileage. I use to change Shell Ultra on every 5K due to considerable hot weather of Multan.
Experienced and senior most members are requested to completely Advise in this regard. Pros and Cons be discussed as well.

Liqui Moly and Mobil are good. Are you having any problem with your current oil? If not, then why are you thinking to switch to LM/Mobil?

Just to have sincere advise. I want to achieve even better performance and long drain interval with best oil.

No matter which type and brand engine oil used - the drain interval should be 5k KMs as recommended in the manual.

5w40 grade is perfect for GLI - don't change the grade.

I would advise you to stick to the oil you’re using if you’re not facing any issues.

Keep using shell helix ultra, its a good oil. Use toyota genuine oil filter and it can work nicely upto 7000kms.

I want to test Liqui Moly 5w-40 or Mobil 1 0w-40.
As both are reputable and if i pour 5w-40 LM synthiol it would be same. And if i pour Mobil 1 0-40 then its almost same. What would be the Pros and Cons. I am really a Fan of Mobil & LM Brand (as i used their products before) and in my personal opinion this will be a treat to test. However i need a rock solid advise.
No doubt this oil is absolutely Love.

Bro stay away from this scrap. bcz ZIC oil is usually 2 no. in Pakistan. I also used it before and its been so long since i shifted to Mobil and Now Shell Ultra.

You’re correct. But why change the brand if you’re not facing any issues in the first place? Changing brand won’t make huge difference. I would recommend you to keep using shell ultra. Switch to other brand/grade only if you’re facing any issues. Rest is your choice

W.S. Brother regarding engine oil, you should strictly follow yours car's user manual and should only pour that oil grade / viscosity, which has been recommended by the OEM i.e. Toyota. Oil grades / viscosities k sath bilkul chaer chaar nai karni chaheye. One should select a fine Brand and try to get stick with it, unless / until some new brand comes in the market which is better than it and takes it's place OR oil grade / viscosity has to be changed depending on odometer reading, milage or engine condition.

You can use oil from any well reputed Brand, as long as it's 100% Genuine and Original. Caltex Chevron, Eneos Sustina, Shell, Liqui Moly, Mobil 1 and Total are some of the excellent brands to select from.

If grade has been recommended as 10w-40 or xw-40 (x can be 5,10, 15, 20, etc.), you can use 5w-40 (it will help a bit in cold start), but should never use xw-30 or xw-20! The engine will be euthanasialy killed in the long run!

You can use Synthetic / Fully Synthetic Oil, with API rating higher than or equal to recommended by OEM.

And regarding oil drain / change interval (may be along with air filter and oil filter), I would like to add that it all depends on the environmental conditions in which you drive your vehicle, and also quality of fuel.

Given different environmental conditions, change intervals of the same oil grade / viscosity for same vehicle, can be different. In one case, it may last even more than 5,000 kms, while in other it may be reqd. To be changed even at 3000 kms! However, even if travelled for 1000 kms, it must be drained after completion of shelf life of oil, which is usually around 6 months (when poured in engine)

One should keep checking oil after regular intervals and jub lagay oil needs to be changed, it must be! (irrespective of anything else)

If your decision is final to go for LM or Mobile1 then go for LIQUI MOLY Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 - it is not fully synthetic but have better/higher and modern additives than Synthoil High Tech.

Also always use good quality oil filter only other wise there is no point of using expensive oil with cheap oil filter.

Drain interval ideally should be 5k as recommended by Toyota in Pakistan.

But if geniun oil filter used then you can stretch it to 8k KMs max. Contact @haseeb.basharat - he used both LM and Mobil1 with 10k drain interval without any issue.

I didn't use LM in my grande yet due to warranty issues but I may use it at later stage but i have used LiquiMoly oil and other products in past in other cars and found it very good.

I would say these are best engine oils for corolla in Pakistan.
Use liqui moly synthoil hightech 5w40 (its fully synthetic)
Leichtlauf is great, but it’s semisynthetic which causes sheering after 6000kms and oil start to lose the viscosity.
I have recently poured mobil 1 5w50 at 56000kms on odo. I can rate it even better than liqui moly. Fuel economy is getting better. Acceleration is much improved and performance is being enhanced.

Be it liqui moly or mobil 1 fully synthetics. Use it upto 10k kms or 8-10 months. These oils are meant to last this much easily, and they does. Original/genuine oil filter will last 12000kms easily. 10,000kms is the safe limit.

Thanks for ur suggestion. Let us conclude the topic. I have brought my car from 20w-50 to 5w-40. ODO is 180K.
When i bought this car in oct 2017 prev owner used to pour Zic 20w-50. I noticed on next oil drain that oil was consumed a bit. So took help from this forum. Poured Mobil 15w40 which enhanced car pick and avg also. Then switched to 5w40 shell ultra which had also lighten my car throtle and avg pick also. Now i have been using shell ultra since last 8000Km. I drained it at 5k km.

Considering all this situation, will it be a good experiment to move to LM 5w40 synthiol from Shell ultra5w40?? car has no issues with Shell ultra but i just want to give my car the best thing. LM synthiol a better choice then Shell ultra?? Considering the performance and price of both please suggest with ur experience. Give it a final shot

LM synthoil is a better choice, but you’re not facing any issue with shell helix ultra. I would suggest you to use that and change it at every 6000kms.
Liqui moly is imported. Shell oils are imported, but repacked in Pakistan.
I was not satisfied on shell helix ultra, high rpm were roary. Cold startups were messy. I had so much bad experience that i drained this oil after just 1500kms.
