AOA .. what are your recommendations for the engine oil for civic 2018.Should i go for liqui moly 5w 30 or Total Quartz 9000 ? Its current millage is 4000km . Thanks !

Use HONDA 0W20, its much better than other companies as they whats best for your engine.

Brother, 0w-20 and 5w-30 are the recommended oil grades for your ride. You can choose any of these 02, but then stick to it.

Other than the oil grade, the oil must be API SN / SN Plus / RC, ILSAC GF-5, fully synthetic, from some reputed brand and 100% genuine and original.

If you want best for bucks, go for Total Quartz 9000 Future series, and change oil along with genuine, OEM Oil filter, after every 5,000 Kms, or follow OEM recommendations regarding oil + filter change interval & duration.

Honda genuine oils are the same as Total Quartz 9000 Future series (especially the 5w-30 one). Just there is difference of packing / branding.

Still, if I have to choose between the 02, I would go for Total, instead of Honda! :+1:

In 5w-30: Total Quartz 9000 Future Series or ENEOS Sustina (Premium & Expensive)

In 0w-20 / 5w-20: Total Quartz 9000 Future Series, Shell Helix Ultra Series, ZIC, Caltex Chevron / Havoline, etc.

These are reasonable options, and meet the criteria I have mentioned above.

Expensive options are there too, like Liqui Moly, etc. These are equally excellent, but may not be best for bucks!

Rest, your money, your choice! :+1: W.S.

Honda randomly pouring 0W20 and 5W30 in Civicx by default.
Initially 0W20 was for turbo, but after production halt they have started pouring it in 1.8

Brother both are equally recommended by Atlas Honda and are good oil grades. They won't bring any harm to engine.

Bro liqui moly has no comparison with these brands like TOTAL, Caltex, shell or zic. It is premium quality oil and its price is almost double. Only a person who has used it in his car can tell the difference. I have used Havoline, TOTAL, zic and finally liqui moly in my cars but there is nothing better than liqui moly. Your car is brand new u can go for 0w20 and stick to it. I am using 0w20 in my civicx mileage 11500 kms and 5w30 in my civic 2010(reborn) with mileage above 130k.

The changing interval for liqui moly is 10k where as for total quartz 9000 it is 5k. Wouldn't they cost the same if we keep the changing interval in mind ??

My point is... Honda is randomly pouring oil in cars without checking the history. changing oil grades randomly is not good even if its recommended grades.

Yes. You are right. But the main thing is oil filter. Liqui Moly engine oil may last 8-10, may be even 13-15K Kms, but poor oil filter may not.

If engine oil + filter, both easily last 10K Kms, then for sure, you may go for Liqui Moly, however, if oil filter's life is just 5000-6000 Kms (as is usually the case here for locally assembled cars), then I think it is better to go for value for money brands and change oil + filter both after every 5K Kms.

Cost to benefit ratio may be overall same for both. However, if you are pouring Liqui Moly and changing it after every 5K Kms due to oil filter, then I believe it will be a waste of money in this case.

That's my personal opinion, others can disagree.

Yes. You are right. But in this case, I would suggest to choose one, and then stick to it. You can also guide dealership. They will be happy to pour 0w-20, as its quite expensive, so more profit margins for them in 0w-20, instead of 5w-30.

It may also be noted that expensive / premium engine oils also have their own life, irrespective used or not, may be from 6 months to 01 year e.g. 15K Kms or 01 year, whichever comes first. If you pour an extremely expensive oil in your car for change interval of 15K-20K Kms / 01 year, but you hardly drive for 6-7K Kms in 01 year, then you may have to change / drain it next year, and can not continue to use it.

and one more thing. Will you recommend to use octane booster from liqui moly for the regular petrol ?

Bro, I am not sure, but simply put (although may not be simple); Octane Booster + Regular Octane = High Octane, then why not simply go for high Octane only?

I am personally not in favor of any such boosters, but still, my personal opinion.
