E140 Toyota Corolla1.6L Gli automatic 2011 | My ownership experience after 9 years & 250,000 kms

Today I am going to share my ownership experience of E140(10th gen) Corolla Gli 1.6 Automatic, I purchased this car back in july 2011 and it was one of the initial model of 1.6L Gli. Since then i have almost covered around 250,000 kms and so far i am having a great experience. It is literally a trouble free car. But not every car is perfect , It had two common/ known faults.
1: Steering Rack
As mine was an initial model some cars produced in 2011 had this issue and so far Toyota easily claimed it in warranty.
2: AC Fans
Many cars of the same era had an AC fan problem where their AC doesn't work properly or the fans stop working. Once iin 2017 I replaced fans which almost stopped working after 1.5 years which even caused damage to my radiator so second time i replaced the radiator which costed me Rs 7000.
Otherwise I am happy with the car.
Maintenance Cost:
Everything is easily available in market and prices are cheap too
1: Oil Change
I get my oil changed after every 6000 kms and i am using Shell HX-6 10W40. The complete package including oil oil filter and air filter it costs around 3900-4000 PKR
2: Spark Plugs
I got my spark plugs replaced after every 80,000km and all 4 genuine spark plugs cost around 6700 PKR
3: Engine Tuning
I Get my car fully tuned after every 50,000km which cost around 2000-3000 PKR
4:Break and Gear Oil:
I get both of my break and gear oil replaced at 80,000km. Break Oil costs 1000 PKR and gear oil for 5500PKR
5: Break Pads
All four genuine breakpads cost 16000 pkr
6:suspension
All four genuine shocks from AGRIAUTO cost around 35000 pkr
Fuel Consumption:
The fuel consumption is great. In city drive with AC and Light foot it gives around 11 and without AC it gives 12.
On long routes with a constant speed of 120km it gives around 15-16km/L with AC.
If we talk about engine specs it produces around 120 hp at 6000 rpm and 154nm of torque at 5200 rpm with a 4 speed super ect transmission. If we talk about safety features it only gets ABS breaks with EBD & BA.
Resale value:
If we talk about resale then Toyota Corolla is king of resale in Pakistan and no one can doubt on it. I purchased this car back in 2011 witn an invoice price of 16.50 lacs and today after doing 250k km i can easily sell it for 16.50 lacs to 17 lacs..
Yearly token cost 12500 PKR for filers
In short if anyone want a fuel efficient,reliable,rigid and a powerful family sedan go for 1.6 GLI

Thank you for sharing experience. Have you faced any mechanical issue 1.6 1ZRFE engine ? as few people had knocking and rattle sounds issue in early models. In addition fuel filter/pump at what milage you have changed.

on how many kms u changed suspension or shocks and what was the issue u were facing?

Yes there were rattling issues in some cars but mine had only steering rack issue.
I have replaced fuel pump at 130k kms and replaced 2 fuel filters due to poor quality of fuel. I don't remember the kms

Around 168k I got my suspension redone as the front shocks were making noise and rear near service.
Now at 250k I am planning to replace all 4 shocks as the previous work didn't worked well

Corollas are definitely nice machines.
We have a 2008 Gli and a 2011 Gli. Both have covered roughly 165,000 kms.

Indeed. I owned a 2010 altis 1.8 (non sunroof). Got that car when ODO was clocked at around 80,000kms from Toyota Sure. Over the course of 3 years, i had to get one O2 sensor replaced, CAT cleaned, and brakes. Brake job was done last year, costed 16,000/-. O2 sensor was for 3000. CAT cleaning for 3500/-. A very very reliable vehicle, great pickup, soundless engine, smooth idling. I hit 160km/h with that car, but due to the worn out tires, had to slow down. Sold it at 145,000 ODO for the same price as I purchased it for.

I own a 2017 civic too and that has pushed me into alot of troubles

Well the car don't starts when the pump is completely choked or is broken down whereas if there is a bad fuel filter the car will wobble

Well when the car was in use of my father as his daily in 2013 before kalar kahar he clocked at 210km/h but stability was zero. The car is only stable till 150km/h

Replace it with kyb japan shocks instead. I replaced front shocks of my 11th gen 1.8cvti at 100k kms, front only and difference too much as compared to agriauto. Agritauto got too much recoil to it. It doesn't give you control. Ride feels quite tamed with kyb.

what is price of kyb and from where you got it? are they available brand new or used?

Kyb is Japanese, but shocks are thailand made.
I purchased them brand new for my car.
Front pair was 18600rs and rear was 12800rs.
Agriauto front was 16000rs and rear was 7000rs.

at 100,000 kms the valve clearances are checked too, I dont see any mention here, at 190,000 kms the coolant is flushed (if pink - 100,000 kms if red)
