bhai ,it is the number of octane something related to molecules. My chemistry teacher told several years ago uring chapter of organic chemistry & told that more number of octanes will help in less knocking,
high no. of octane = less knocking (it has anti knocking handling capacity due to addition of chemicals)
less no. of octane = high knocking
high octance petrol(HOBC) has some extra additives (chemicals) mixed in petrol so they are charging u cost of ordinary + cost of additives.
Mostly these anti-knocking chemicals are:
The typical antiknock agents in use are:
petrol, when used in high compression internal combustion engines, has a tendency to knock (also called "pinging" or "pinking") and/or to ignite early before the correctly timed spark occurs (pre-ignition)
in ksa they have petrol
octance 91 (cheap price)
octane 95 (costly)
unfortunately in Pakistan, what our companies are marketing, even the good one is HOBC(with only octane 90 as highest ) which is even less that least quality petrol of KSA
so in short,
our best quality petrol < least quality petrol of KSA
