Difference between sun roof and moon roof

can anybody tell me whats the difference between the sun roof and moon roof ?

There is a technical difference between a sunroof and a moonroof, but most everybody uses the terms interchangeably. First off, both are panels in the roof that let light or fresh air inside the cabin. Getting down to details, though: A sunroof is typically a solid body-colored panel that pops up or is removable. A moonroof is a type of sunroof, except that it?s a sliding glass panel. The majority of new cars have moonroofs, as what?s technically considered a sunroof has pretty much gone out of style.

A sun roof will open the back of the glass on the roof up about 3 inches or so and close it again.
A moon roof will do the sane thing BUT it will also slide back so that the glass itself is gone and disappears into the roof . In a moon roof you can actually stick your head through the roof opening.

i prefer to call mine "Star roof" as even in close glass i can see starts but for sun and moon i need them to be exactly on top of sky to be visible through my sun or moon roof.

Then why COROLLA states Altis 1.8 SR or 2.0D Saloon SR at its back.....where as actually they are having Moon Roof, not Sunroof....

In my opinion as TOYOTA always consider its customer GOOFS, so even knowing the difference between sunroof and moonroof, they never bothered to use correct terminology...

That's because ' Sunroof ' is more commonly used in Pakistan, India and neighboring countries.
UK uses Sunroof more as well.

Hypothetically, I believe that most European countries advertise with Moonroof and American's as well.

Btw- Moon is a common name in Pakistan, they wouldn't use that.

kindly look in the owners manual, indus has mentioned moonroof everywhere in owners manual, the badge refers to sunroof only because of pakistani mentality like you

just that we people fail adopt new terms quickly and are quick to reach judgement on those who adopt, by the way even i think sr is a bit stupid badge, they should call it sr package or something instead of sunroof as it included leather interior and premium audio as well
