Type A I'll strongly urge to not do this. The use of temperature laser gun or any such technique is not good for the reason:
The surface temperature will be misleading as it always lags the internal temp. So you might be reading say 40 and the temp inside might be very high.
Grande does not have dipstick. For other models I'll discourage such attempt for many reasons: dipstick is generally twisted and you may break and lose the thermometer inside, also contamination may occur, also you may not get true temp.
And BTW for temp measurement you don't need any thing special, only a piece of wire needed (plz see the procedure) so no need to go for "difficult" and "unreliable" ways.
