Corolla 2009 Engine Oil Recommendation

Assalam u Alaikum. Dear Friends and Experts, I have 2009 Toyota Corolla Gli (2nz-fe engine) with 186k kms on ODO. Currently I am using Castrol Magnatec (10w40) engine oil. But some of my friends told me that I should go for 20w50 oil as engine has got old now. I need Experts opinion on this topic. Please help me.

Yes, the car is well maintained mashallah. I am not experiencing any smoke. But after 2.5k to 3k kms oil reduces on the dipstick. But that is normal as it is written in 2nz-fe manual that it can reduce oil upto 1 litre..

I am living in Abbottabad. My car reduces some oil after 2.5k to 3k kms. But 5w30 or 5w40 is less viscous than even 10w40.. And for old engines you should be using viscous engine oils. That is why i was asking for 20w50. Car mileage is 186000 km

I have bought this car about a year ago. Since then i am using Castrol magnatec 10w40. Prior to this, they were using zic 20w50. So i don't know its performance at 20w50 but at 10w40 there is no issue except that it reduces some oil. Rest it gives me good economy and no smoke etc mashallah. I was asking for experts opinon because i have heard that high mileage engines should be run on more viscous oils. I.e. 20w50

I have calculated 15.5 km/l economy. Mostly it was driven on highways with a little bit in city during calculation. I drive the car at 100kmh on motorway and on Karakoram highway it is like driving in city

I am handling the car with great care and regularly take it for servives like brake service, engine tuning, ecu tuning etc

Then stick to 10-40 engine oil no need of using thick oil it will reduce your engine performance..
