Conversion of Mitsubishi Pajero into Evolution

Assalam o Aleikum All,

i'm a new car/jeep enthusiast and recently have developed this interest. I hang here quite often and have learned a lot about the inner workings of automobiles. Still a rookie, so don't burn me if my question is silly.

I am considering buying a 1992 3 door Pajero ( with the trimming ) and have noticed in pictures that the Evolution is quite similar in shape to 1992 Pajero. I know that internally they are two different beasts, but my question is only concerned with how the vehicle "LOOKS".

Is it possible to purchase after market evolution bonnet, front/rear bumpers, and fenders to install it in a 3 door 1992 pajero?

If yes, then where can I procure these parts from? Dubia? or from the net? and any price idea?

I actually think it's a matter of personal preference. Whilst I might not do something like that myself - and maybe a LOT of people might not do something like that - I see no reason why people shouldn't be allowed to express themselves, and experiment with their rides.

And as far as cutting newcomers some slack is concerned...I'm an old man and I'm STILL a novice with these things. If we can't give solid advice...I think we can at least keep the disparaging comments at bay.

@Poster: I really think you should do whatever it is you want to. Body kits can be had, I'm sure...although I'm certainly no expert on how you might find them. Perhaps some of the Mitsubishi stalwarts might be best qualified to answer such a question.

Though Pajero Evolution has the body of a 3 door Pajero and many body parts like doors, glasses and most of the interior is same, yet, this is where similarities end.

Apart from the 3.5 Mivec engine, transmission, 4x4 and diffs to match, Evo has independent suspension (Coil Springs+Shocks) on all 4 wheels, whereas a normal Gen II Pajero has independent front suspension with torsion bar and solid axle at the back with either leaf springs or coil springs.

If you are only looking to add the cosmetics of Evo on a Gen II Pajero, you can do so on 3 or 5 Door model of Gen II. Do not know the body code of 3 door but the body code of 5 door model is V45. Pics attached.

Once you have the basic Pajero you can order new body parts, which will cost you minimum 400K or can ask a friend to lend you his Evo so that you can have a fiber glass copy of it, for around 50K I suppose.

i noticed that the front side fenders of the 92 Pajero and the Evolution are NOT the same!! does that mean that I will have to order the metal fenders of the 98 pajero(which I think has the Evolution fenders sans the plastic kit?? any opinions??

Brother, front fenders as well as the rear fenders are different in design, otherwise you will have to cut and weld the rear fenders. Front fenders can be changed.

My suggestion would be to buy the basic vehicle with these type of fenders.

This shape was released around 1997, I think. The fenders are known as blister fenders. The 4 door model was identified as V45, and 2 door model was V25. It only came with either 6G74 engine 3500cc V6 or Diesel 2800. There are plenty 5 door models available in used car section of pakwheels, attaching the link of 2/3 door model for sale in Faisalabad.

The Pajero EVO has further fender flares-up in addition to the blister fenders and also large hood scoop.

Just to give you an idea, the EVOs were only made between 1997-1999. There are only around 10-12 EVOs in Pakistan, most have been used in the rallies and price depends on car condition and your negotiating skills, probably under 2 million Rs.

Yikes!! that a lotta dough, can't afford it. I have a total budget of 11 lacs. (6.5 fot the vehicle and the rest for the mods etc.) So the next best thing IMHO would be to also procure 1997 pajero blister fenders... will they fit in the 92 pajero as is, or would require some serious surgery?? are the dimensions of both the vehicles the same??

Secondly, Im also considering putting a bigger diesel engine... suggestions are needed and welcome.
