Configuring Alpine MRV-T6001 with KFC-W3010

Hello All,

I am silent reader of PakWheels from more than three years now, but never felt the need of sharing something or commenting upon, it was all so complete until yesterday when I made-up my mind to install a sub in my car.

The car is Toyota Corolla GLi '13 and running the default headunit Alpine CDE-1216 with stock front components and Sony XS-GTX6942 in the rear, both attached directly to the headunit. This setup is running fine so far but the newly installed upgrades are a complete turnoff.

After searching a few shops on Hall Road I decided to go for 1 channel Power Amplifier MRV-T6001 powering a 12' KENWOOD KFC-W3010. I didn't had time to search for reviews for the product I selected as my GPRS wasn't working there unfortunately (Screw Warid) but anyways, the upgrades were installed.

The first problem I faced was the sub wasn't producing enough sound as it was inside the sound test cabin of the seller although it is enough for me on loud volumes.
Second which I found latter was the sub is producing noise which is not audible in traffic but can clearly be felt when the surroundings are silent.

Installation procedure followed a direct 12v+ wire from battery running from the passenger side harness along with Remote wire & RCA connector wires to the boot where the setup was installed, the ground was attached to the left most screw holding the back seats (I know it was a weak spot but the installation guy insisted it's good enough for this setup).

Amplifier costed my 12K & Sub 4.5K & all things used were brand new.

Wires used: +12v Stringer, ground Pure Copper wire, an ordinary remote wire and a bit thick wire for RCA connectors and Sub cables.
Base-tube: An ordinary tube bought from Hall-road for 1.2K

I would highly appreciate if anyone can help me find the real problem along with a nice place in Lahore to proceed further with the installation as I want my amplifier to be fixed at the back panel (That grey card covering the hollow spaces of rear seats - I'll need a plywood for that purpose?) and suggest any alteration in the installation.

I'm not a music freak and a bit old equipment for me is fine but if these things sucks (although the rear speakers & mono amp shouldn't) I'll be happy enough to swap them with better goodies if you can convince me?

are u sure that the amp is 1 channel? i can practically c two (02) ports on it for channel 1 and channel 2 plus V12 series came in alpine if m not wrong i hav alpine mrv t1000 myself. rest the sub is pretty decent m just in love with it i dnt knw y but it runs great with any amp even if its a chinese 600w lol

Yeah its Alpine and as per the head and shopkeeper its a mono. I was also curious about two outputs but like I said I wasn't able to search my data network failed there. Ironic is that I'm unable to find this particular model on Google, seems like MRV-T6001 never existed :S

Right now the noise sub is producing is my primary problem & latter I'll look into clearing all the wires clutter and placing the amp nicely on a board.

So far I have diagnosed:

1. The power wires, RCA, remote wires goes the same route thus creating magnetic field disturbing RCA signal
2. The RCA cables although a bit better and thick then the normal used in ordinary car audio's don't have any shields around them, they appear to be naked inside rubber
3. I had a look at my amp's ground point today once again although its the point where rear seats are mounted it doesn't have any paint on it and appears to be a part of firewall, so might be ground isn't a problem

Any more suggestions you have?

ur mistaken there..... this is just the way every shopkeeper thinks and makes his customer think that pioneers are better then kenwoods.

what kinda noise is it..... a constant static noise or does the noise increase when the throttle is pressed

also the rca's ur using the possibly the most pathetic kind of rca's available. u should have gone with smthing branded. even there are better bm ones that are for 400 each (5m).. do change these rca's

get the rca's away from the power wire. take them through from both ends. rca's from one and the power wires from the other end.

if the gnd is attached at a place where there is no paint onto the metal sheet, thats good.

finally to the amp. ur sub is legit but the fact that the alpine amp says 1-channel and that its not on google, there is a possibility that its a fake. change it. the whining sound could also be coming due to the amp. most of these fakes have crappy connections. if u have the box of the amp, post it here with the serial number.

if the sound is still there, there are ways to hushh it. but change the rca's, change the routes of the power wire and rcas and post the amps box, paperwork or serial number here

Mono amps are single channel ....It just give you two outputs to connect different subs or single DVC sub in different ways!

oh yes. forgot to mention that the 2 channels are connected inside the amp. its like taking 2 wires and connecting them from the same output

A constant static sound which is not effected by the HU volume, sound settings or throttle and increased with an increase in amp gain, another thing worth mentioning maybe is that my sub hit a high note while changing the source (USB, AUX, Tuner, CD), going next or previous, changing songs folder etc. which can be felt clearly even in noisy environment.

About the amp don't have any boxes with me, the sub box I got was also on demand and the shopkeeper gave it to me after opening another sub. There is a sticker underneath it which says serial no: 20877 which obviously is of no use. I am attaching the inside pictures of the board.

About the RCA's I searched nearly half the hall road, none of them were having any branded stuff :S (power cables, RCA's or a complete kit) even the stringer wire I found was after I purchased another copper wire for the same purpose and that too was just wrapped around a cylinder wire like ordinary ones are kept and if I rub it the stinger sign will be removed :o

Lastly I do accept going through all these threads, I have witnessed cases like mine and still didn't bothered for a complete paperwork thinking I'm not going into such stuff where fraud usually happens.

P.S: The nimb sticker you can see in the pictures was in the amplifier already :-#

Even crap Chinese amplifier doesn't got issues with the grounding ,until there is something wrong have been done in the installation ....!
