CNG Cylinder Can be Used for LPG?

Salam Dear's,

I need expert comments regarding some people & mechanic's saying that CNG cylinder can be used for LPG with some modification/installation of device with estimated cost of Rs.1000/-
I want to know its possibility, advantages, disadvantages, LPG consumption, and safety factor. Kindly also advise using home LPG cylinder in car as well.
Please reply on early basis.

my limited knowledge says it can be as LPG is liquid. but at low pressure lpg will freeze. tesla cylinders are equipped with heaters on cylinder to counter that.

Salam.
I own the very first LPG Autogas station of Pakistan and just recently i experimented filling of LPG in CNG cylinder with sucess.
We filled 40 KG's(4500 RS worth gas) of LPG in 55KG, CNG cylinder. There is no problem of LPG freezing in winters due to the thickness of CNG cylinder.
I converted over 100 vehicles and no alteration what so ever is required in this aspect.Just get the cylinder cleaned up from inside of the impurities of CNG and get it cylinder valve cleaned and you are good to go on LPG,same pipeline, same Kit as well with little alteration/adjustment of high pressure valve of your CNG kit.But the best economy is achieved through an Original LPG kit.

Thanks but i want to asked is it safe to use/fill lpg in cng cylinder???? some people told me that it is more risky to use cng cylinder for lpg from local shops of lpg filling station as in lahore only one proper LPG filling station is open, so if we want to use lpg, we have to fill it from local shops filling station.

Can the normal LPG available at LPG filling shops be used for vehicles?

And what is the average per KG of Auto Gas LPG?

hmmm ok don't pay him 1000 rupees.. u dont' need to do anything except following and that too for winters only..

-like we mostly attach 2 pipes from engine into the car heater radiator for winters.. u need to buy 2 t shaped pipes and link it to ur cng kit.. it has the provision for those pipes... and start filling lpg in it..

never use LPG kits for CNG.. however u can always use CNG kits for LPG.

Well filling of LPG through a LPG shop has a lot of risks and drawbacks.With their substandard equipment and no safety precautions these shops are at a risk,though not elevated one.Their LPG pump,its electrical system and cylinders are awfully close for a negative chain reaction leading towards an accident,other than this factor there is no problem in getting CNG cylinder,LPG filled at a decanters place.
But wait a minute.......most of the decanters and their supplying companies tend to sell Irani LPG,or BYCO LPG for their economy.LPG from these sources is of very low quality and it will damage your vehicles in more than one way.If you can get pure POL,NOOR,PETROLEUM,SAM,PYRMAID companies LPG,they are very much suitable for vehicles.The only way to judge quality of the gas is by smelling it.If it is nearly without any smell,it means it is from a good source,on the other hand the more smelly the gas the poorer it gets.It is because it is from a poor source/refinary.

Dear All,

CNG tank is heavy while fuel is light weight, while LPG tank is light while fuel is heavy in weight.
LPG has special cylinder valve for car that is bigger in size that takes the lpg with help of pipe from the bottom of the tank. this valve can not be use with CNG cylinder.

There are many more differences between lpg and CNG, in short you will not get a certified LPG valve that will fit on CNG tank.

I have recently converted my mehran to lpg with cng cylinder and kit. the cng mechanic charged me only 500 for the setting of kit for low pressure lpg gas. 1st time 4 kg gas fill krwai and car is working fine. pick is a lot better than cng.

in Karachi there IS only 1 know LPG station at shahrae faisal on down track towards city. I took a test drive of a Corolla 2011 over LPG kit with CNG cylinder and it was wonderfully smooth and according to owner of corolla Rs. 1700 fuel churns out approx 325 kms city run. I have to take it on face value, (with some doubts). I may switch to LPG if CNG stations convert to LPG.

In chichawatni at ghani pump .last 2 month ago lpg pump equipment were installed and no idea about selling gas.
1 more stations is near to run in my city because half of local transport here uses lpg in there cng cylinders and they all get gas from local vendors
