Civic X (2017) Battery Issue

Hi wheelers,
Got my Civic X 1.8 delivered in April 2017. i have driven it 8000 KM. at 4800 KM My battery drained and the car was unable to start. took it to local battery shop he checked and told me that the battery has dried and there is no water. so he filled it up and checked the Battery. I went to the dealership at 5000 KM 3rd Aug. 17 for service and told them the problem, they checked with the meter and told me that the battery doesn't need replacement as they have updated the water. today again in the morning while going to office took a stop and yet again the car failed to start due to battery issue. i took the car directly to the Honda dealership Defence they checked the battery and told me that there is no issue with the battery but the liquid had dried and they filled it up again and told me that u need to check the batter water every 10 days.
I fail to understand what the hell is this as if I buy a 2.8 MLN vehicle which they call top of the line and have to check battery water again and again? what kind of battery they have put in as far as i know the water only dries if the battery is under powered or very old. need your expert advice on this? is this battery under power or other honda X users are facing the same issue?

This is a common issue. You have two options here:
A- Replace your battery with a dry cell battery
B- Check your battery water on a daily basis

This is not a common issue, how many people you know check battery water level every day on a brand new car?
@ OP, looks like your car alternator is over charging, or battery is already worn out. either way get it checked from the authorized dealer only. going to road side mechanic will cause your warranty to void and dealerships love to put all blame on the customer. take the car back to honda and ask them to get it thoroughly checked or threat them that you are going to consumer court. They will listen to you then most probably.

Faulty alternator. Overcharging causes frequent electrolyte loss.

There is issue of battery in civic X. Remove foam padding around battery and periodically check water
Or get dry cell battery from
Dealership by paying 1k only

thanks for ur input. had a talk with few of the owners of Civic X they also have similar problem of battery water drying out. and car going dead in middle of no where.
if i replace the battery will it impact my warranty?

Ok so first of all let me say that this is not normal. It must be faulty alternator or some other magical thing that Honda is not yet able to diagnose. My friends and my bro has this model and all have the same problem. Another one changed the battery and replaced with dry cell and still his car gave issues in starting as battery had no power. Removing the padding does help to a certain extent but still the issue is there. My bro went to Honda and they emptied 2 water bottles in battery and in the end they asked for price of those 2 bottles which he simply refused to pay. Now he was asking to see how he can take Honda to consumer court due to this and other issues with new car.

Other than overcharging it could be that some thing in car is draining battery even when the car is off.

I have a 8th Gen Civic and believe me I check battery water after 4 or 5 months at minimum and even then it only needs very little water to be added up. And this is same with the Mehran I have kept.

heard that they are changing is FOC

They haven't started as yet. When I went for 5000km service, I was told that with 1k, it will be provided but it was still undecided.

Haven't heard of change option till now.

So you mean the dealership will take the old battery and replace with a dry battery if we pay 1k extra? will this solve the problem?

Few dealers are doing it. After changing. Haven't heard of continued problem

This is an issue in most of civic X and there are two problems. A) car is using batter even when its off and B) overcharging which heat up the batter and drain batter water. This is either the sensor is faulty or the charging alternate is faulty. Honda has faced this problem in Honda Accord internationally. An article in Khaleej Times (https://www.khaleejtimes.com/business/auto/honda-recalls-21-million-vehicles-worldwide-over-fire-risk ) can be reviewed. This trouble can lead to fire in Honda.

I have personally experienced this batter issue and Honda Dealership is not ready to acknowledge this issue officially and they dont even reply to your complain emails or letters. I guess its time to take them to court.

Just heard that the new civics dont have this problem and they have done something to fix it. Trying to find out what they have done so that same could be asked of them for couple of older 10th gen civics. They should fix this problem for older cars free.

They have changed battery
