I have a 2009 civic reborn manual, when I bought it it was running on water and had heavy rust in it. My mechanic also didn't change it to coolant as it was losing like 500 mlin a couple of weeks and will heat up in 2 months or so, the radiator had leaks in top which was replaced but it still reduced water on disassembly multiple little hoses were cracked and the IAC coolant lines were rusted. Tried adding coolant after a couple of flush with tap water but it became rusty, now after fixing obvious faults were fixed I poured abro radiator flush which caused a lot of black rusty water to come out and after that 2 more flushes with distilled water were done but the water is still kinda rusty. Now what should I do flush it once again and add coolant if yes which coolant to use

My mechanic had recommend using Zic Coolant.

He said local made Nasa or Guard don't provide adequate protection against rust and heat. I had used about 4 bottles (Rs. 700 each), and the total cost was about Rs. 2800.

Also, I recommend that you do one more flush and add Zic Coolant in the radiator.

Sir @Xulfiqar 's radiator flush formula is simple buy the 100 gram tatri it hardly cost you 200 rs mix it with water and then fill that water directly into your radiator and then run it remember remove the thermostat valve otherwise there will always be rust present in the engine run the engine gain its normal temperature needle or bars in reborn at centre and radiator fans turn on if it possible then take a drive of 2 or 3 km then park it and let it cool down then open the cap and drain it then flush it with water several times until unless you dont see that all tatri solution came ot you can also use baking soda or meetha soda to flush it with 2 or 3 times then fill the water and check it 2 or 3 days that its not reducing water and no rusty water circulation and then install back the thermostat valve and add coolant and chill.
i have done it on my every car whenever i purchase second hand which is After every 5 6 months.

First and foremost check your water pump and thermostat valve. If they're also corroded, you will need to replace them too. Otherwise, your car will still overheat on coolant too.
Use Caltex Coolant, buy 2 bottles and mix with 2 bottles of distilled water in a bucket, and then add to your radiator and the reservoir(after cleaning it too, of course).
It has a life of 200,000kms, so its the best.

You should ideally use caltex extended life coolant which comes in concentrate and use distilled water to dilute it. It costs around 800rs per bottle and you would need around 2 bottles.

What I'm concerned about is if the tatri will eat away at the hoses and there's no way to know if the water pump is corroded. Also if I remove the thermostat valve how will the seal of the thermostat housing be maintained

@pwuser153416529861 Tatri is not highly acidic and will gently remove the rust present.

Do keep in mind that if it leaks after then it is good as it was bound to happen later as well, instead on a motorway with a blown headgasket or much worse.

You can always get a new seal and it may also be possible that the thermostat also needs to be replaced.

@murtazamohammad54 is right cure it now after tatri sollution its possible your other hidden leaks become visible after this which will be beneficial for you to cure it now rather then ignore it and then face the huge gasket problem at some side of road, but your car is not that old enough which will make these issue but still on safe side always check the other issues also water pump that its circulating water standardly no loss of water

Do a citric acid flush and add Caltex coolant. Btw if your system is standing on rust, flushing it will just cause leaks. You might have to replace some parts.

Using water in the cooling system is a very big sin! Water just destroys it with rust. I recommend that you use HONDA coolant. And pls do not mix water.

You have to mix water in a concentrated coolant. But im pretty sure honda sells premixed coolant

You can find less expensive coolants in the market, but genuine Honda coolant is the only coolant approved for Honda vehicles.
