I have been using Kumho ECOWING tires in the size 205/60/R16 for the past 4 years. They've given me very minimal problems so far. I think only one tire got punctured once. These same tires also come as stock in the PKDM Elantra. My travel route covers university road to the Saddar Civil Hospital area Karachi. So you can imagine not so clean route.
Whatever tire brand you choose, go for the "eco" variant of that particular brand. For eg; Michelin energy, Bridgestone ecopia, Kumho ecowing, Yokohama BlueEarth, etc. These tires are usually designed for low rolling resistance and so are usually made of a hard rubber compound as compared to the touring series (made for comfort) for example. However, it is because of this hard rubber compound that they are less prone to punctures and survive potholes better.
In my experience, many Chinese tires are not true to their ratings. For eg; they may have a treadwear rating of A, but in practical experience, you'll see even Yokohama's B-rated tires have better treadwear. Some Chinese tires don't even have any temp, treadwear ratings. I am talking about my experience with Triangle brand tires. However, now there are many new brands in the market so I could be wrong though.
