Central Air Conditioning at home

I heard that installing single wall units in each room is les energy efficient than installing a centralized air conditioning system.
Central air conditioning initially costs you more but its monthly electric consumption is much lower!
Anyone have an experience with central air conditioning?

House is split levet with 9 suites over 1500 sq yard 2 lounges & cold kitchen all central airconditioned with a Greaves Cotton central chiller [ 500 litres capacity ] & cooling units with independent controls. rest of 500 is open space for cars hot kitchen & lawn

tested for 12 hours 10 pm to 10 am the average temp 24 C across the house is equal to PKRs. 8350 per 12 hours. This is when house is not occupied by residents and no other appliances [ kitchen units ] were tested on load. do the maths my friend.

i'd suggest split aircon with floor units instead of hanging or wall mounts. with personal experience of swapping from wall to floor unit saving is about 15% and efficiency is very high, to reach 24C when outside temp is 39C floor unit took 19 minutes while earlier wall unit was simply pain in Rear. - split units can be shut down when not needed but the chiller of central unit stays alive to keep cold water temp at desired level even when not in use at any indoor unit.

yes but thats a HUGE house....and 24 degrees is quite cold. 28 degree is good enough for most purposes. I usually have my AC at 29 or 30. Its the humidity that needs to be removed, temperatures are usually bearable...

First of all- you should have some good insulation. Walls, roof etc. The better the insulation, the less power is needed to attain optimum temperature.

Then, it depends on how good the system you've installed is. The ducts, thermostat etc.

So you are saying that floor standing AC cabinets are more efficient than wall mount split ACs

Thats' correct indoor floor units are more efficient in split air conditioning systems. Little expensive but with convenience of maintenance

How about inverter based cabinets.

central air conditioning is not a good idea for home. if there are only 2 persons at home others are not there, then also you need to use central a.c. sometime any member need to on ac and other not need, then also that will consume electricity. if you have seperate ac which person need he can on.

So the inverted based split ac wall units like Haier/Gree will be more efficient than the floor units? Capsat sb kindly let me know..

Yesmaybe or maybe not. It depends upon EER rating of the Air Conditioner
