Just after some help on what I can test to isolate the problem with my car not starting at the moment.

Scenario: Tried to start car the other day and only get a clicking sound. Starter motor doesn’t turn the engine, but lights and stereo still working.

Hooked up some jumper cables and the car started straight away. Left it running for about 15 minutes and then turned it off. 5 minutes later, tried to start it again and got the same clicking noise and car wouldn’t start.

Inspecting my battery, the small indicator light still shows green (charged).

Could a battery be no good, but still show a green light? Or is my problem likely something deeper? A faulty alternator possibly?

Can anyone help on some ways to isolate the cause of this issue?

Thanks!

Clean and tighten your battery terminals. If that doesn't work, have your battery tested.

Can be as simple as a loose terminal and if its not this then check battery and alternator both. After 15 min of start car, battery should have energized to fair levels by the alternator. Maybe alternator is not charging well and battery is weak too

Bhai if you have a multimeter or someone near you has it. Just start the car with a jumper cables and put the pins of the multimeter on the terminals and St it on voltage setting. If it gives 12 or more volts your alternator is fine and the battery is not holding charge if below the said value it is a bad alternator..

Also it can also be a safety fuse for the alternator, battery and electrics of the car might be that is gone and hence creating a fuss (if your car has it)

Happened to me once. It was battery’s fault. Even though i got the battery tested and the battery wala said battery theek hai. But deep down i knew k battery 3-4 saal purani he change toh karwani he why not abhi ? Got the new battery and never faced that issue.
