Car hood paint damaged by acid - what to do?

Purchased new white colour Alto one week back. Today I found acid on inside of hood splashing from battery due to charging. On cleaning the hood its paint also got removed.What should I do to repair it and to prevent it from happening again. Thanks in advance.

you cant do anything - just spray paint over the bare metal - but neutralize and sand it first.

The Pakistani batteries have top vents instead of side vents - and the vapours hit the bonnet and condense on it.

the battery caps might be leaky. mine also has a wet one but no acid on bonnet. show pics of the damage.

you are right. Acid is coming out of one cap only. I will post picture in few hours.

ok. go to some battery wala. they might have some spare caps. also try ffc mt, when i lived there i once got my cars battery charged from them they have a battery mistri. as for the damaged paint. rub it thoroughly with surf, if you see metal then wet sand it to remove the dirt and then get just that portion sprayed from any local painter. he will mask the rest of the bonnet and only this spot will be painted

wesay u shud also try claiming warranty with the suzuki dealer, maybe they can replace the leaky battery

ye to hood ke neechay or thora se hay. leave it as it is. my cultus got big spots. we were trying to start our car with another battery water drop at madgar, and it happens just after 10 days when i got re painted my car. but i leave this as it was and sold the car

same happened to me, i accidently dropped some battery acid on the front fender and after few days i saw that it had blackened the paint from that area, my car's colour is dark grey.

a local painter said that acid nay paint saarrh diya hay.

any solutions to prevent it from further spreading or may be fixing it???

i think in your case it is caused by overfilling of acid in the battery, thats why when it charges it bubles out, as your damage is under the bonnet u can easily get that area painted.

as xulfiqar said, sand, neutralize the area, then paint. or if you don't want to, you can also apply a thin film of petrolium jelly to the surface. this will prevent rust spreading, help fight battery acid corrosion and will not hurt the resale due to overspray.

Brother, its not spread yet. My two relatives own alto, and hood of both r corroded with acid. Actually its generator over charges the battery.
I am giving u some solutions, which they have also followed and r satisfied now;
1:Keep battery water b/w lower and upper level.(Dont fill to top.)
2:Use only AGS. Because exide,volta through water outside when over charged.
3:This i did in baleno also.Buy paper tape which painters also use and off white in colour , and paste on the section right above battery
this tape can be easily removed when u have to sale ur car.
Do paste the tape as it will spread more, a built in fault in alto.

I have rectified the leaking cap and now there is no more acid splash. Should I get it painted OR leave it as such. I just want to avoid corrosion.

If you are using a battery prepped with tap water - it will have this tendency to boilover, keep the level in check - thats why there is a scale on the side of the battery.

Level is OK. It was only one leaking cap and on opening I found it partially blocked. I have cleared its way like other caps and now its not leaking anymore.

My alto got the same spots,just knew it was battery,but never took it serious:)
