i think it can be done. but u need to increase the flow from the kit to the engine.
the volume of the chambers should be somehow increased. otherwise it will go like this: low pressure gas will occupy the same space in the chamber(s) of the regulator as that of CNG, and when the regulator will allow the gas to expand (or in other words decrease the pressure), the resulting volume of the gas obtained through one pass in same amount of time would be lesser as that of CNG.
or if the regulator can act much quicker then flow rate can increase.
