Caltex Havoline 5w40: The VERDICT!

Alright ppl
As many of u may know i posted a thread about changing my engine oil from caltex havoline 10w30 to caltex havoline fully synthetic 5w40 in a Honda civic 8th gen(reborn)...The results are as follows:

Morning startup is better...less noisy as compared to 10w30
2.Fuel economy dropped(yes dropped) ! ..
3.Car feels alot heavier( so much so its quite noticeable)..
4.Engine noise has decreased a bit.

So i conclude that 5w40 is NOT the grade for our civics its too thick of an oil..my driving habits are really gud i never redline and keep rpms below 2.5 k..So now i want to know that which brands produce 5w30 because it is what honda recommends too..i want to know specifically about total quartz 9000 5w30(imported one not honda one)..how is it performing in honda civic 8th gen???

ur car feels heavy and ur fuel economy dropped coz u shifted from 30 weight to 40 when the car warms up! and ur morning starts are better coz u shifted from a 10 weight to a 5 weight! do u even know how to read engine oil and know wat it means? ya bas apni taraf seh experiment kar rahay ho?

Bro i know how to read an engine oil but the thing was that i wanted to shift to fully synthetic oil and i thought caltex wuld be the best coz previously i was using caltex havoline 10w30..ur right in ur regard that is indeed heavier..so which oil grade wuld u now recommend bro??...

Bro use the genuine Honda 5w30 fully synthetic oil and change it after 5k kms. Don't try anything else. Baki apki ki gari hai apki marzi

Gud for u bro..but in my case it made my civic bit heavy rest its going gud still..done only 1000kms on it..

5w40 is imo better for use in the summers, as far as i remember, the manual shows a range of temperatures in which an oil can be used and 5w40 has a wider range than 5w30, imo 5w30 is better for winters

I had a very bad experience with this oil. Oil level was reduced in just 3k kms whereas same car is running on Honda fully synthetic oil(5w-30) without any problems.

So brother do u recommend the total quartz 9000 5w30 imported one for my car? As i think this is the same oil honda offers in a locally repacked version

Bro I strongly recommend it. I'm using it from last 6 oil changes and my daily running is more than 100kms with 900kms continuous trip once a month and car runs perfectly fine with good mileage i.e 10-11km/l with AC locally with normal foot which includes AC at idle position. Even sometimes I have to use AC at idle position for half an hour. I believe I can achieve even more better mileage if idling is minimal.

what TBN rating does your oil have to retain a 60,000 kms oil life on a 4 litre sump in a wrung out petrol engine like the ones being discussed,

ziyad iv been using mobil1 ka 5w50 since its considered to be an all year round engine oil! yani sardiyoon k liyay bhi acha and gharmiyoon k liyay bhi acha! and iv been using it since 8yrs now and iv never faced any kinda problem!

Shell helix ultra is also now in 5w40 I think its a good grade
