My personal experience with Shell & Caltex Oils on Diesel Engines

Shell Hilux Hx-7 / Ultra 10w40 - Currently 5w30
A More Engine Responsive Ride - Fast Pick & Feels like driving super enhanced engine! Performance drastically improved!
Super Fuel economy! Good in winters too. Excellent Flow.

Caltex Delo Gold - 15w40
Feels Same like common mineral OIL, only little BOOST/help on up-hills & areas where heavily needed. Engine response on HARD acceleration only, not so smooth & swifty. Burns Less smoke. Good Fuel economy.
This oil is Not good in winters. Gets thick, even at 15 Degree centigrade & needs some warmup time to get into position of fast flow.
Best temperature to RUN this OIL is 25-30 Degree centigrade OR above.

Total Score: 10/10

Shell Hx-7 / Ultra 10w40/5w30 = 10 / 10

Caltex Delo Gold 15w40 = 5 / 10

I've experienced Caltex Delo Gold coking up very FAST, specially in Turbo charged diesel vehicles with Blow by PCVs'.
The REAL FACT & DEAL IS that on continuous driving over high speed upto 7-8 hours, with DELO Gold you can damage your Turbo + burn a lot of OIL, leading to engine damage at its level best. OIL looses its work & becomes like water, in simple words: Its Gone with the wind! So finally, Delo GOLD is totally SH&***T !

uptill now, i have tested Caltex Delo Gold & Shell Helix Hx 7 only.
I compared these 2 companies only because they are easily & readily available in originality from their respective pump stations, other retailers/shops i don't trust them.
There are lots of other good OIL brands too, but don't know their original source of packaging & distribution etc.

I havent used Caltex Delo
but using the shell ultra(Gray pack not blue) for past 2 and half year. Recently changed to Zic XQ 5W-40. Both shell and zic brand can be used
for high performance light diesel engines. Performance wise they were same but with shell I found engine sound to be smoother than Zic.

What was ur maximum speed during the trip?
How much MPG u were gettin' ? - the real deal.

mobil 1 comes in both petrol and diesel versions - dont use the petrol version in diesel, you can use the diesel one in petrol without problem.

Try Toyota Oil, I am using it for my 2D Saloon since last one year and its the best, oil change after 5000K and bro my frequent traveling is between Karachi - Islamabad, atleast 2 trips a month.

Car went to karachi with full time AC on, fully loaded & gave 18km/ltr avg ! No issue in pick, or speed!

( sir i am using delo gold ultra in my fiat 480 and in ursus 3512 tractor,and i u can imagine that in which heat it run,,, in seasons of wheat engines starts continues 4,4 days,,, and all over the year engine run many days continues with out 1 min break,,, and the performance of delo oils is best,,,no trouble,,, i faced trouble in winter during first starting of day,,,but after delo gold ultra ,this problem have been solved,its my experiance)

Yes Dello Gold Ultra is very good oil. i use it in my Nissan Patrol and Vigo. Beleave me it,s much better then shell oils.
