Caltex 10-30 oil VS ZIC A 10-40?

Friends, Can you pls tell the difference between two oils? which is the better if they belong to the same class? Zic A is a semi-synthetic...Is Caltex 10-30 is also a semi synthetic one?

practically, world wide, all the engineers prefer using less difference grading oils. that means they will prefer 10w-30 over 10w-40 because of chemical combination/composition of these high difference (like 10w-40) multi grade/viscosity lubes regarding winter(10w)(cold start) and hot conditions(50) are not stable. on the other hand 10w-30 is more stable in simple language. it wont lose its strength. the bonding agents tends to maintain there properties

2ndly i myself prefer caltex(Havoline) as thet have better improvements and agents regarding engine protection. i am using Havoline from many years and it gives better fuel economy and mileage. and 10w-30 is best for fuel economy and mileage. means even after 5000kms your oil will have enough strength than others dont have

Infact, gettin original ZIC is a big issue. Also they are increasing their prices every other day. My car is about 35000 km run. i am usin zic A but it has started to reduce oil in very small quantity. thats the reason i want to convert on my next oil change.

brother as you yourself said there are so many issues regarding ZIC. Mainly quality control and fake products..
If you really are interested in 10w40 i would recommend you to go for Liquimoly instead of Zic.
Also if you want to go for the best then go for Mobil , the best oil in the world.

I ve seen 15w40 availible in Mobil ie Mobil 1000, dont know abt 10w40 availibility in Pakistan.
As far as brands are concerned then Caltex, liquimoli and Mobil are much superior than Zic.

thanks brother. infact MOBIL and LIQUIMOLLI are comparatively expensive and are not available everywhere especially original. Can u pls explain:

(a) Zic A is sem-synthetic whereas CALTEX 10-30 mineral. is it wise to go for Caltex when we have oils of same specs like SHELL HX-7.

(b) Will it not create heat or any other issues if i use CALTEX in summers keeping in view the fact that i am using a 10-40 viscocity oil from the day one and company has also recommended the oils of same viscocity??

I think caltex 20-40(Havoline) is the better option as in my cars while using Zic Motor oil it starts to reduce the oil in both cars (civic 2005 and Liana 2007) thats the reason i choose Catex 20-40 (Havoline) and its solve the problem.

Zic in pak is running due to there high profits to shop keepers,, u know hey give them 5 packs for the price of 4 (25% profit) plus the sale profit,, that's why many shop keepers and mechanics (who get incentive from shop keepers) suggest Zic ,,,,

If you want to shift from 10w40 semi synthetic to mineral oil 10w30 caltex, you should first flush the engine.
the best thing would be,as your car is very less driven i would suggest you to stay with semisynthetic/synthetic instead of mineral oil.
Synthetic have a much higher draining interval and are more friction protective than mineral oils.
as you said that Mobil/Liquimoly are expensive then why dont you use

I am not impressed with ZIC, it's washing agent is good (keeps oil clean) but it's effect on engine is not that soft. ZIC is selling higher because of very good advertising compaign and cleaning agent in oil.

I had very good experience with Castrol Magnatec and ENOC in 10w-40 grade.

don't u think that CALTEX 5-30 (fully synthetic) and PETROMIN Synthomix 15-40 (semi-synthetic) are quite different options? For which of the two should i go? Or can i use CALTEX synthetic when i have used Zic A semi-synth from the very begining?

Yes, it's totally different range in terms of products. 15w-40 is primarily for Diesel engines but also available for gasoline.

There is no issue to use full synth after semi-synth, full synthetic does clean the waxes and if it's bulk wax inside then might choke filter.

I also used Semi-Synth after Full Synth and vice versa no issue.

Flushing can be done by using Flush agents available, I used WHIZ company and was good one.
